Anyone not doing mailed back RSVP's?

Anyone not doing mailed back RSVP's?

I know most people do the traditional one - send out an envelope with a stamp - but I am considering and RSVP card with:

A reservation has been made in your name. Kindly respond by 1/1/05.

(718) 555-5555
or
Email: [email protected]

I figure I will have to call people anyway so why not just have them call us. Plus, isn't it etiquette that guests should call or send back a handwritten rsvp?

IMO thats not a really good idea. Do you really want 200 some odd people calling you off the hook?? Plus their are the people who cant come who might feel awkward calling to say no and feel like they will get stuck on the phone giving excuses. Ets* and then there are the people who will keep you on the phone forever wanting to know every little detail of your plans.
IMO it dosent seem as formal.

I agree...for something a lot less formal a phone number is fine (like a shower or informal e-party), but for a wedding...I don't think it's a good idea.

I say no for all of the above reasons and it's helpful to have their reply card when making tabke arrangements.

If I got that I would think it was a very informal wedding (eg. small backyard barbecue type thing like in other states).

i wouldn't do it. If the cost of the postage is a concern, you can always do a postcard reply card with a postcard stamp.

Nah, I calculated that in a while back. I wanted to avoid the phone calls but either way I'd have to speak to them all anyway.

A few married friends said they did not get back the RSVP from bridal party members. Not that they were not coming but they needed the names of dates/guests. It all just seems annoying. Why can't they just send it back the same week they get it?!?!? It has not even happened to me yet but it annoys me to think about it. not sure why though.

Why would you have to speak to them anyway?? Like close friends or family that you talk to all the time is one thing.. but I havent called distant relatives or anyone on fh's side of the family or anything like that.
The only time I plan on calling anyone is to track down people who dont rsvp by Jan 16th
