I'm thinking of not getting one? Did anyone else not get one and reget it? Or not get one and still think it was a good idea?
Thanks.

Re: Anyone NOT get a videographer?
I'm not getting one. Me and FH agreed that to save money we would skip the videographer. At my home we have tons of videos of xmas and graduation and bdays, but I have never watched a second of a single one.

I agree. I would never watch it. I'd rather spend the $$ on something else.

i'm thinking the same thing, but a videographer told me that u can hire somone to come and shoot raw footage of the day, and don't bother editing it. That's where all the cost comes from, its the editing. I think he told me that $500 can get u a raw footage of the day.

My FH and I are probably not going to get one. We have a friend in Film School, so we are just going to ask him to tape our wedding and give us the raw footage. Personally, I would rather spend the money on a better photographer since you are ALWAYs going to flip through your photo album.

We didn't hire one. We have the option to add it on when it get's closer to the wedding. Let's see how much $$ we have left by then! I really would like to have one.

Defiantly NOT getting one. I find them annoying at the reception. Most people spend most of the time at the reception avoiding the camera man. I would be too. I hate being on camera and I don't think I would ever watch it. I have so many 'home' videos that I never watch. I'd rather spend that money on another part of the wedding.

Re: Anyone NOT get a videographer?
We decided against it because we felt we were more prone to open up an album then pop in a DVD. It would have been nice to have it, but for the money it was not that important to us.

Exactly - we got a slightly better photography package with the extra money. I definitely look at photos, but not really into video

We are NOT getting a videographer because we were at a wedding recently and the guy was on the dance floor while everyone was out there shining his light (which was brighter than the SUN!) right in everyone's eyes. I just think that while it might be a nice reminder of the day, it just takes too much out of the day overall.

we're not getting one. My sister said she watched hers twice and lost interest during the 2nd time. we're on a budget and I would rather spend that $$$ elsewhere.

Re: Anyone NOT get a videographer?
I was at a wedding and the videographer set up in the middle of the aisle. the bride and her father had to walk around him. after that, I was turned off. There are good ones though, and I've been to weddings where I never noticed that there even was a videographer. I might just have a family member tape the ceremony.

Re: Anyone NOT get a videographer?
I was so set against having one at my wedding. My mother and father surprised me with one the day of. At first I was upset b/c I did not want the lights, and the interview, etc but they told him everything they knew I did not want. I cannot tell you how HAPPY I was that they did that. I watch my video so much and its been almost 3 years since I was married. It was the best investment. The day goes by so fast that its all a blur. I'm glad I have the video to remind me of that day, and in some cases things I missed seeing on that day. Like Grandpa getting down to 'Love Shack'.
Anyway, I suggest cutting costs elsewhere or atleast having someone take a home video. It's just something I am so grateful to have.

We didn't get one. It's been 2 1/2 years and we don't regret it one bit. We really thought the lights of the camera would ruin the ambiance we worked so hard to achieve.

We aren't having one. I'm not interested in seeing myself on a video.
