What are your thoughts on this? Everyone I know whose gotten married says it was a waste and that they rather watch the 'home' videos because its more intimate and personal...

Re: Anyone NOT having a videographer?
Don't plan on it. My church doesn't really allow the videographer to get close at all, so I don't see the point.

Re: Anyone NOT having a videographer?
I really didn't want a video - I thought it was kind of a waste of money. FH and I thought maybe we'd just video the ceremony. However, when we went to the photographer and told him no video, he threw it in for us for free! He's even giving us 4 dvds (one for my mom, one for my dad, one for FH's parents and one for us).
However, if I had to pay for it, I probably wouldn't do it.

Re: Anyone NOT having a videographer?
I thought it was a waste....until I saw a really good video. Our videographer is one of our favorite vendors, we're really happy we decided to give video a 2nd thought.

Re: Anyone NOT having a videographer?
We're not. We'll have a friend or something videotape important parts (ceremony, first dance, toasts, cake cutting etc). FH hates watching wedding videos or home movies and I can't justify the cost to myself lol.

I found a pretty inexpensive videographer, so we are going to get it. I def think it's nice to have.

Re: Anyone NOT having a videographer?
In the beginning I thought I did not want one and I was going to do the home video thing. But I saw a wedding that was made by one of the guest and I was so bored and it just dragged the camera was not steady etc.
If a video is a back of mind I think you just a get a no frills basic videographer to capture the day professionally

I agree - FFIL videoed FH's cousin's wedding for him and it came out horrible!!! You couldn't hear anything except for FFIL talking (which is an entirely different issue ) and the camera movements were really jerky even though he used a tripod.
When FH and I were deciding whether or not to do one, I said I'd rather not have a video at all than an amateur one.

Re: Anyone NOT having a videographer?
I was totally against having one, I didnt want the annoying lights in my face or any of that. The more we talked about it we didn't really have anyone in our families that we trusted to do a home video so we went with getting the video. He gave us an outrageous price too, if it wasn't for that i would have said 'no thanks'.

FH watch this video with me and I have never seem him looked so bored It was the funniest thing. It took some convincing to get a video after that experience.

Re: Anyone NOT having a videographer?
hope you do not mind me crashing, but I just wanted to say if you can fit it in your budget or even have a friend do it for you, go for it, our photographer ruined all our pics but two, and now I wish I did the video, I barely have any memories now, and the day went so fast, I wish I could sit down and watch a video, and take it all in.

Re: Anyone NOT having a videographer?
Anyone i've heard from who opted not to get video regrets it now! We were on the fence, but last winter, my cousin's boys were home from school on a snow day, and she was telling me how they were watching the video from 15 years before. They got to hear their grandparents talk, when they've been gone for many years. I think it's a really important memory!

Re: Anyone NOT having a videographer?
My MOH wasn't going to get one at first due to her budget but she found a company... I think they are a vendor on here, that did it for an awesome price and her video is AMAZING! I bought a copy and watch it all the time! She said it was one of the best decisions she's made.
