Anyone NOT having a videographer?

Original post by PoppedInASnap

What are your thoughts on this? Everyone I know whose gotten married says it was a waste and that they rather watch the 'home' videos because its more intimate and personal...

I don't think we're having one. My friends who are married and did video said they never watch their DVD's and wish they hadn't put the money towards it instead of other things.

I'm not getting one. I always run away from the camera at other weddings I've been to. I just don't like being filmed and I don't want a huge bright light in my face all night.

Not doing it...we're passing around my video camera to see what we get, but that's all I want to watch anyway :)

I am definitely getting one, but I have my masters in film and electronic media, not having a video wasn't even an option for me.

However I have edited some videos together for my friends who had friends or family shoot as part of their wedding present. They don't come out as good because amateur shooting can only be made to look so good in editing, but they are usually just as happy with them. Its the memories they care about.

I'm not getting one. EVERYONE i know who is married say they watched it once and that's it. My best friend watched it 2 years later with me, and that was the first time she saw it!

Sorry for crashing.. Having the video was the best part for us. My grandmother passed away 2 months after we got married. Iam so happy and greatful to have such a wonderful memory of her at the church and then at the RH. She fought so hard to be there that day and she made it! I love my grandmother so much and seeing the happieness on her face thats day is a blessing. My husband and her dancing, and it puts a tear in my eye every time i watch it. Our video is beautiful and I will always be happy that I have it. Just wanted to share with you lovely ladies. I believe it is worth the money.

Michelle,
You have a MA in film and you chose Wildrose Video!! I'm so excited, I knew I had made a solid choice but I feel better than ever now!

Other ladies, honestly...if you've seen the generic wedding videos only then yes, you're right to say that they are total yawn fests and super cheesy. However, if you have a couple of thousand to invest in something worthwhile, definitely check out a reputable videographer. You'll be blown away by what they can do it. Works of art.

At first I said no way to video. Then, when I thought of taking it out in the future for our children to watch, even if it's just once when they're little, I couldn't imagine not getting it.

We just didn't have the money for the added expense. So many people have cameras these days and we'll probably never watch it. We're asking FSIL and her husband to just tape the important parts (vows, speeches, dances, cake) as their gift to us since FBIL is into that. It's probably nice to have but not essential to us. I'd rather have the photos.
