Re: Anyone reface their bathtub?

How much did they spend and who did they use? I'm thinking about doing this but wanted to know who did this and whether or not they liked it and would recommend it..

Re: Anyone reface their bathtub?

I had it done twice in 12 years in my old Co Op. If I had the choice I would replace the tub. It looks great for a few years but does begin to look dull, chip and scratch. I dont remember what I paid but I do remember that I could have replaced the tub for about the same $$.

Re: Anyone reface their bathtub?

I never knew you could reface a bathtub!
We replaced our ugly blue one for a nice new white one- which wasn't that expensive.

Re: Anyone reface their bathtub?

To be honest, the only reason I even checked out the whole refacing option is b/c I know that oftentimes when you start ripping stuff up, you only lead yourself into more problem$$, you know? I do want a tub though...

Re: Anyone reface their bathtub?

My tub just started peeling...We were going to refinish it, but I heard that you should just replace it bc eventually it will peel again...

Re: Anyone reface their bathtub?

Okay, so my mom used a company in Mineola called Bath Fitters. She loved them! She said it only took one day and they were very neat &clean, in that they did not leave a mess behind for her to clean. I'm still waiting for her to give me a ballpark on what she paid.

Re: Anyone reface their bathtub?

BIG difference.. reglazing is like repainting the existing tub that you have.. REFACING (what I'm looking into) is like refacing cabintes in your kitchen.. it's placing a tub over your existing tub..

Re: Anyone reface their bathtub?

Mine was reGlazed not reFaced. When they regaze they spray on an enamel paint like substance. I think refacing is what Bath Fitters does. They sort of cover your existing tub and walls with a fitted plastic/acrylic? liner.

Re: Anyone reface their bathtub?

I had my tub reglazed.
I heard that when you reface, sometimes, there's a gap and you can feel the air inbetween when you step on it??? That's not why I went w/ the reglazing however, just something I heard.

Good luck Marcella!

Re: Anyone reface their bathtub?

I love my tub! The reglazing though... it's so clean and easy upkeep.
He said it's guaranteed for 5 years and will most likely have to be done again in 10-12 years. For the $$$ (not expensive at all) it was well worth it.
(This was for the co-op I now rent out)
