I own one, but frankly don't use it... (and cooking is my hobby). They're also supposed to be good for bread baking.... but you can never get them wet...

my mom bought one for my brother and he absolutly loves it!! he just brought it over and made one last night - I know per pie he uses 1/2 of the package of mozz. cheese and he buys the individual bags of pizza dough from an italian deli by him. You can use whole wheat dough and make it really healthy too. :)

We actually got one from one of those housewares outlets once and I bought a pizza recipe book from WW and have made the dough, or used the ready crusts and i really like it..one tip..sprinkle cornstarch under the pizza so it doesnt stick...let it cool and scrape anything you need to off, and then you just use some water to get off the rest because i read that they season like other cooking supplies...good luck!

If you want to make great pizza at home, definitely pick one up.
Baking stones retain heat and absorb moisture, which produces crispier, drier pizzas, breads, and calzones.
but you can never get them wet..
You can get them wet - you just can't use soap. When you're finished cooking, just scrape off any food residue and then run warm water over it and let it air dry.

You CAN get it wet, you just can't use detergent on it, (it would absorb the detergent into the stone )so you use hot water & a brush to cleam it....

they are great!! we have one from Pampered Chef. and if you go to your local pizzeria you can usually buy the dough from them for like $2. it works outs great. we will usually make pizza and & garlic knots and sometimes strombolis. there are some great stromboli recipes on food network. I imagine you coud do calzones too. the stones crisps the dough!! Yummy!!
these are great but you need a regular pan--just thought I'd share-enjoy! http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_24862,00.html?rsrc=search
