Re: Anyone's siblings forget their birthday?

No, but I remind them every day for 2 weeks prior!

I'm bad.

And I don't do it for gifts either

I do it to bug the hell out of my sister! Hee hee.

She does it to me too it's a tradition I guess.

I always forgot my mom's though. Sept 26. Now I remember because she's not around anymore. Ironic right?

Re: Anyone's siblings forget their birthday?

Maribelle- I am the same way. I make sure my family knows my birthday is coming way in advance. I am still a little kid and get excited. I hope that never changes. I like the kid in me.

Re: Anyone's siblings forget their birthday?

My brother and I have always had an agreement. As long as we remembered before the other one's birthday arrived it still counted. Mine is in April, his is in August.

And now that he's got 3 kids he's announced that we're not doing birthday gifts anymore - just too darned expensive and hard to figure out what to get each other when we live on opposite sides of the country and only see each other once a year or so. So it's usually an e-mail and phone call somewhere near the birthday. Better not forget to get a card to his wife though, she gets real upset!

DH gets phone calls from his family. He's got a good arrangement with his brother for Christmas too. BIL will ususally say he's giving DH $200 for Christmas, and DH says, hey - I'm giving you the same - so they just call it even. A few years back BIL said he'd had a good year and was giving $500 so DH of course did the same

Re: Anyone's siblings forget their birthday?

I empathsize with you Sue...
My parents and my siblings forget my birthday every year and have always done so. I'm a Christmas baby so I guess it just gets lost in all the Christmas excitement.
However, I'd like to tell you Happy Birthday!! I hope this coming year is one of your best and brightest yet!

Re: Anyone's siblings forget their birthday?

Awwwwww..Leelee I promise I will remember your birthday!!! My niece's birthday is Christmas Eve so she gets gypped too!! Last year we all got together and had birthday cake then opened gifts. Even my sister wrapped Christi's (her name is Christi Eve..hummm I wonder why...) birthday gifts in Christmas paper!!! I was the only one who wrapped her gift in birthday paper. I felt so bad for her.

My sisters and I remember all the birthdays, but our brother never remembers any of ours. Oh well! We don't forget his.

Re: Anyone's siblings forget their birthday?

My brother remembers my birthday but it always seemed like an after thought. This year FH organized a birthday dinner for me and he invited my brother, but he never RSVP'd. I felt bad for FH and I was a little bummed myself

Re: Anyone's siblings forget their birthday?

There are a lot of us and we are older and most of them have kids, and yes we forget. I try not to, so I can at least call that day, but sometimes the call ends up being a day or so late. We figure the biggest thing is to remember the kids birthdays.

Re: Anyone's siblings forget their birthday?

Ooooohhh....thanks Wendy!!!
Boy oh boy, I feel for your neice!
You know-once my aunt gave me a pair of shoes and told me one shoe was for Christmas and the other for my birthday! It's not easy being born at Christmas time!!
The moral of the story is...if you have a child around Christmas, make sure you give them a distinct birthday celebration too!!!

Re: Anyone's siblings forget their birthday?

I never forget my brothers bday. He will from time to time forget mine. We had a rough childhood and hsi bday is 2 weeks after mine.. (older by 3 years) so usually I took whatever change (money) i got from my bday and bought his bday present.. (action figure) wrapped it in old newspaper and gave it to him. Since its so close to mine, its hard for me to forget. My Dad calls my brother to remind him of my bday, but Im not supposed to know that. heh.

I think he forgets mine cause these days he's a father who is very busy and stressed. I never take offense.. mostly because you can hear the guilt when I call to wish him a happy bday. 'Oh dude, thanks.. sorry I missed yours, happy bday to you too'.

I love my brother so very much. Without him I don't think I'd be here today. I cant imagine how much I would have hated life if it wasn't for him. He saved my life, without ever knowing it. I am grateful everyday to have a brother who is a ditz and loves me for all his idiotic tendencies and forgetfulness.

NOW If ONLY i could get him to come to my wedding!

Re: Anyone's siblings forget their birthday?

This year FH and I forgot his sisters B-day....we felt AWFUL!!!! Guess who reminded us that we forgot??? SHE DID!!! (jokingly, but we could tell that it hurt!)

Sometimes life just gets in the way and we forget things....We had so much on our plate this year with planning the wedding and worrying about $$ and we just plain forgot.

I know it won't happen again though...I am still carrying the guilt from February ....

Try not to be too mad at him - my mom has to remind my bro. every year....Maybe this year your bro. never got his parental reminder phone call?

Re: Anyone's siblings forget their birthday?

FORGET MY (and my sister's) BIRTHDAY ??? WILL NEVER HAPPEN in my family
The running joke is that our bday is a national holiday because we always make a big stink of it. So the day we were born is engraved in EVERYONE's mind. We all decided to stop exchanging gifts last year, (except for 'milestones') since we have so many kids in the mix now. But we still celebrate with family dinners, phone calls, deserts, etc...

and me and my sis will ALWAYS do something to honor our special day. always have. always will.
