Anyone see Dear Abby a couple of days ago? I'm sure we all have feelings about this letter!
Original post by rdhbride
DEAR ABBY: My niece is getting married in two months, and our invitations just arrived. My daughter, who was divorced last month, was invited with no 'and guest' after her name. Who knows? In the next two months she might meet someone she'd like to take to the wedding.
Would it be tacky to respond 'two' and see what happens? Or should she take her wounded heart and not go at all? The family knows about her divorce but still addressed her that way. -- KEEPING OPTIONS OPEN

Wow the nerve of some people to not understand. Geez. And for that other bride telling people to come stag is just beyond effed up.

I think this person just wants something to complain about. What did Abby say?
I do have one better! What do you do when a bride asks you NOT to bring your significant other, after you've been together for 3 years and she put 'and guest' on the invite. Apparently my friend had more people reply 'yes' than she wanted, and started asking all of her friends to come stag about 3 weeks before the wedding.
Wow. That is pretty ridiculous!

We are only giving a plus one for someone who is not in a serious relationship if they would not really know anyone else at the wedding.

Here is Abby's response!!
DEAR KEEPING OPTIONS OPEN: While it would have been thoughtful to have invited your daughter and an escort, your relatives may have been more preoccupied with financial considerations than the fact that your daughter wouldn't have a date sitting with her. And yes, it would be tacky to write 'two' on the RSVP and 'see what happens.'
Consider this: For your daughter to bring a date might invite suspicions that she was involved with the person before her divorce. And to ask a man you don't know well and have been seeing only a very short time could be construed as rushing things, and might be a turn-off for the man she had her eye on.

LOVE the response! We are not having a large wedding and paying for everything ourselves, so we told our friends, including the bridal party(drama in itself) that unless they are dating someone for 6 or more mths before our wedding that we will not be able to invite them with a guest.

Ugh I feel its so ballsy for people to get offended about not having a guest if they are not in a relationship. Times are tough people and wedding are expensive!
