I will NEVER understand anyone that hurts a child!! If a child is too much trouble for you....drop it off at a church...there are PLENTY of people in this country and would love a child!!!!


It makes my sad and angry at the same time!!!

That poor little thing. If that woman had a history of child abuse the baby should have been taken away from her!!!

They said they think this isn't the first time with this monster.

Mother Charged With Second Degree Murder In Yonkers
— A two-year-old child has been beaten to death in Yonkers. Police say the toddler's mother did it because the child wet her pants.

One officer said this was not just a smack or two, this was a severe beating on this child. We all know that young children wet their pants sometimes, but this young mother would not have it.

It happened inside of their apartment, the child was only two years old and she wet her pants. Police say her mother, 20-year-old Uniqua Smith, got angry and beat the little girl to death.

Mary Jane lles, Neighbor: 'If you don't want the child, then don't have it. Don't beat the child because it wet on itself. Its sickening. She needs help.'

Just after the alleged beating, police say the mother called her boyfriend, telling him what she had done.

Robert Taggert, Yonkers Police Commissioner: 'He called the police and said there was a disorder at that location. So when police got there and there was no disorder, they went on patrol.'

But then another relative called the cops and told police exactly what happened. Detectives then went straight to the apartment.

Taggert: 'She was trying to divert the police away from the fact that this child was injured because she came to the door with another child. She said the child was fine.'

Police went inside and found a broken, beaten two-year-old. The mother, Uniqua Smith is now charged with murder.

Severo Ramos, Neighbor: 'She is a second-degree murderer because that baby was an infant.'

Even more disturbing, police say there may be prior cases of child abuse, not at this address, but with this mother and her child. They are looking into that and her other child has been removed from the house and is now in police protective custody.
