My SIL didn't want to know and accidently found out when she saw the sonogram.

Every time I went for a sonogram, I told the tech before they started that I didn't want to know the sex.

to be honest, that's the one area that was so hard to see!
We just went to our 20 wk, and you could clearly see the fingers of her hand, her profile, her thigh bone, but when they told me the sex and said 'Where?!' You really couldn't see anything without them pointing it out to you.
I think it'd be more likely that the tech would accidentially tell you. She was good with us though - she asked us twice before she told us to make sure there was no confusion!

Patrick swears he did, but I'm not sure I believe him.

Sometimes we might see 'something' and think we know what it is I think with how fuzzy sonos are, and us not having a trained eye for them, its less likely to happen.. who knows... My brother actually saw it and the tech said he was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT when my SIL asked (cuz it would have driven her nuts )
I can more likely see happening, the sono tech saying 'he' or 'She' by mistake. But sometimes they just say he or she anyway. Hopefully no secrets are given away!

I went for both sonos at 20 & 32 weeks and didnt see anything so I knew in my head that she was a girl

I forgot to add that I had sonos done every 6-8 weeks by my doctor, so Patrick had plenty of opportunity to try to figure things out.
That said, I'm still not convinced that he saw what he thought he saw.

You crack me up.. lol Poor Patrick lol
That's my worse fear though.. The stupid tech giving it away by accident.. Todd would LOVE that.. but I don't..

I have a friend who didn't want to know and the tech gave it away by saying 'This one's big and going to be a football player.' She was so pissed.

Hopefully the tech is smart enough to not let it slip out. They are usually very good about asking before. I am one of the few who actually wants to know and so does my husband but the little bugger was lying on it's stomach and the legs were shut tight. (Must be a boy – lol) The tech was able to get all the reading she needed perfectly so we won’t be having another sonogram unless it is medically necessary. I have the one honest doctor left in Manhattan! He doesn't believe in them other then the 6 week and 20 week and when necessary. I am freaking out not knowing so I envy those who have the patience to hold out. I know it will be exciting to find out at the birth but I really really wanted to know!! lol

The tech at LIJ said unless you know what to look out for you won't know.

we didn't know what to look for, but my husband seemed to know immediately when we got into 'that region'! He said...um my boy is missing his penis!

I don't want to know but hubby has a trained eye and would like to know, he said he could keep it a secret that would drive me nuts

I was told the same thing. I think sometimes its a good guess if someone is right.
Make sure you tell them as soon as you walk in the room, every time you go, that you dont want to know. It is a shame if finding out the gender is not by the request of the parents. You;d think they'd be especially aware of that in their line but as we know, there are numbskulls in all lines of work.

I was lucky I could figure out where the baby's head was!!!
I think it is really hard to see something like that without training unless someone points it out to you.

Same here, we had no idea. Our tech was great and never made any references, either way.
