We haven't done anything yet. I am just doing lots and lots of homework. We want to make sure that we know what we can afford and we get the best price and the best vendors. We are probably going to start visiting halls in the spring.

The only thing we are booking soon is the RH and the church.
We already know the DJ and photographer we want, they were at past weddings we attended and always said those were the ones we were going to have.
We spoke to the photographer we want and they said if you want a specific vendor and wont settle for anyone else, your best bet is to put a deposit down and then pick the package you want closer to the date. Just make sure they are a reputable company that will still be around in 2009!
But were probably not starting to book anything until the end of the summer bc we are broke! lol

Just the RH and the church are booked right now.
Photographer and florist are booked in a sense because it's family friends and we know it's pretty much a lock since we've already approached them about it.
Other than that, just doing research although we'll probably be getting someone to do our STD's really soon.

Where are you having your engagement party? We are still trying to figure out what we want to do.

I am having a hard time trying to convince my FH that we should be looking into booking things already. We got engaged and decided that about 2 years before a wedding would be good, so he thinks we don't have to do anything until late '07! I keep trying to explain just how much work we will have to do, especially since we want alot of DIY stuff, cuz we would like to keep the costs low.... I was thinking that I would con him in to looking at RH's in like july, so at least we can have a date set or something. (Then I can make my STDs and all that...) Does that sound about right to everyone?

I would def. start looking at RH's if you have a date picked that you absolutly want. My RH already had close to 20 weddings booked for 2009 already. But if the date doesnt matter than you can wait until summer.

I booked my RH and that is it. We went to a DJ appointment and we have another with a florist in March. I don't think it is too early at all. Better to lock in on the cheaper prices now. We would book everything now if my parents would let us but they don't want to have to be paying everything off over the next 2 years. We are already doing that with the RH.
