where are you coming from. i always prefer the train to driving into the city - once you get the route figured out it's SO much easier - no traffic and you can sleep on your way in. =0) just my opinion though.

This always works for me when I want to know which subway is closest....

Go to yahoo, click on yellow pages on the left (it's the last tab). Put in the address of your school for 'location.' Then type 'subway' in the search box. You'll see subway stops - as well as subway sandwich shops of course!

Let me know if you need any help with this...I use it all the time!

ETA: I just searched and it looks like you'd be getting off at 46th Street (Bliss) on the 7. You'll be right there, if that's it! I didn't know your exact address but I put in the intersection and that's what I got. Just to be sure- do the search yourself with the exact address because you never know what you get with those city addresses! I did a search once that completely took me to the wrong stop! Just doing intersections can be tricky.

If that is indeed your spot, make sure you get on the local 7, not express or they will pass your stop.

Sometimes parking is a major hassle, so the train its the way to go. But in the mornings, the Babylon line doesn't normally go to Woodside- you'd probably have to switch at Jamaica. Worth checking out though. I used to commute to Long Island City and Forest Hills from Massapequa while student teaching and I always took the train to Jamaica and then took the E to where I had to go.

The city schools don't have parking lots so if you drove you'd either have to get there really early (like by 6 am) to get a parking, or end up circling around for a loooong time looking for a spot. I say the train is the way to go.

Thank you so much ladies! I really really appreciate you taking the time to help and answer my questions! There are pros and cons to driving. I drove last week and it took an hour to get there and an hour tand 40 minutes to get home. Its nice to hop in your car and go and be on your own schedule but the train and subway are good for obvious reasons. Parking is really bad on Monday and Tuesdays (alternate side in effect). Im going to start off driving and then try the train and see which works out best for me. THANKS AGAIN!!!

If you get on the 7 train in woodside (LIRR stop) at 61 Street, you would take it two stops to get to your school, you would take the 7 train to 46 St. and then walk from Queens Blvd...which would be about 2 blocks.
