I have never heard of that candy in particular but my friends from Ireland love Cadbury 'flakes' and 'Crunchies'. Fairway Supermarket in Plainview carries them as do Irish grocers in Woodside Queens. They are really very tasty.

Good Luck!

Oh, dammit, I have to think of the name, but everytime FH's parents come back from Ireland, they bring these chocolate candies that come in this big bucket and are wrapped in different color foils. Some are chocolate caramel, etc...let me call FMIL....

Are you thinking of the Cadbury's Celebrations ? They are a large bucket of mixed candy, mostly chocolate.

There is also a Murray Mint. They come in a package, each one individually wrapped in clear celephane (sp?) and they are cream/beige in color, and obviously they're mint in flavor.

FM me if you need more details, or need more help.

Edited for sp and to add - I am going home in July - let me know if you want some brought back

You can go to any Irish import store (the Claddagh shop in little neck is one) and ask for colleen candies. Colleen means little girl in Gaelic. They are individualy wrapped chocolates. They are very good, and I'm not just saying that because we share a name! Murray mints are Irish as well, but the cadbury's are English. Good luck!

Roses
come in a box filled with individualed wrapped candies and they are soooo good!!

if you have any irish imports stores around you they should sell them.

I know they sell the at McGuiness in Brooklyn,
they usually have lots of candies during christmas time but I am sure if you talk to someone at one of the stores they can order them for you special if they dont have them in stock now.

good luck!!!

Just to clarify- Cadburys is located in Dublin, Ireland! I know this for a fact!!!

Re: Anyone that is Irish...i need your help...

With all due respect, Cadbury's IS located in Dublin, but they are an English company, based out of Birmingham. Most of their products are produced there and imported into Dublin and Belfast, it really isn't a big deal though if you try to pass off Cadbury's candy as Irish, everyone will get the point!
some Cadbury products are considered more 'Irish' than others, Crunchies, Flakes, and Roses are considered Irish candy, Flakes would make a great gift!

Irish candy

You can get individually wrapped candy. Cadbury makes these packages with individually wrapped ones.
Like someone else said Flake chocolate bars are 'irish' in nature. There's a website called www.traditionalirishfoods.com and if you look on the left there is a link for 'candy'. Then there's sub-categories and Trebar is there. Also cadbury and other brands. The store that does the website is in the Bronx in Woodlawn section. I'm sure there are alot of stores in Woodside, Queens too that sell them and I can find out for you if you would like but if you prefer to order online that website is really good.

I think that flakes are really good for favors if you want to do that. A case of 48 is about $30.00 and you can wrap 2 up together if you wanted to (just a suggestion off the top of my head).

Cadbury is an English company. They probably have offices all over the world. Ireland, New Zealand and Austalia to name a few...

www.cadbury.co.uk

and I also second colleenbs's thoughts....
