Unemployment yes is not at its best but to connect it with LIW has no bearing if you look into threads of people looking for work it is due to that they no longer Like there job unfortunately we are not always going to be pleased with our employment. THERE ARE JOBS out there see we overlook alot of jobs due to the fact that they are not prestigous or in the PRICE range let me say this that if I needed a job and was desperate enough I WOULD take whatever comes my way so that I CAN Support myself. BUSH HAD NOTHIING TO DO WIITH THIS ONE IT STARTED ALONG TIME ago ........

ETS: not That we are basing unemployment according toLIW bit that there is work out just not the great cushy jobs we are all looking to get. JMO so please so not take this wrong

Re: Anyone Watch DATELINE with the PRES?

Clinton was a crappy president as far as terrorism and Osama are concerned.

The first attack on the WTC was in 1993 (I was a few blocks away)... and if Clinton had gone after Osama in a more forceful manner, 9/11 may never have happenned.

Also, in 1996 when Clinton was president, Sudan offerd the US to arrest Osama, but Clinton declined the offer (or rather, he ignored it)!!!! He ignored the offer!!!!! Yes, maybe hindsight is 20/20, but he declined the offer to arrest the man who was behind the 1993 attack, and who was a real threat to the US at the time also.

To make matters worse, Sudan was willing to share vital intelligence concerning bin laden's networks... and again, president clinton was too busy getting oral from monica.

There is a lot more that clinton declined, ignored, and hid concerning osama. maybe if he had taken action one of those many times, the towers would still be there and the people would be alive.

I don't agree with the all of Bush's actions, but I definitely do not think Clinton was superior to Bush.

I never said Clinton was superior...I just don't like Bush...i was pissed off too when I found out Clinton lied...

Peewee...(or Ms Evon )
maybe you haven't been on the boards long enough, but many many LIW girls were/are affected my unemployment - and I was just saying it to support my position...the economy is not in good shape...yes its on the rise, but being that one party controls 2 branches of gov't there is no excuse for this except poor decision making...(when congress and the president are both of the same political ideology - plans for recovery should move quickly!)

and my DH was laid off in 2002 and being that he was in the IT world...there were NO jobs...you cannot say there were jobs out there...there weren't!!! IT people were really slapped in the face...we picked up and move across the country for a job...

the unemployment rate is 5.9 nationwide and holding steady - not dropping...and in NYC its at over 6% and RISING...so I am happy that you are employed...but don't think that things are getting better

Re: Anyone Watch DATELINE with the PRES?

After reading all of the posts -- I only have a few things to say -- I voted for Bush -- and have been a supporter. I am not pleased with everything he does -- nor would I be with any president.. . I think it is very easy for all of us to bash the government-- but right or wrong-- it is what keeps us a free society. My DH works for the government protecting our freedoms-- so I will always ' support' our leaders-- no matter how I feel they are doing or if I voted for them or not!

--and I think that more Americans need to ' get involved' to help solve our problems. More volunteerism--etc... Anyway - I want to end by saying that I am very impressed with all of the views and posts-- It is so good to know that we are all a bunch of well informed intelligent women, who can have discussions about these things! Who knows maybe someone on LIW will be the next woman pres !!!

I felt ASHAMED when we had clinton as president, and THANK GOD he wasnt president when all the terrible things happened to our country.. He was to busy gettin some to worry about his real job. And I for one am proud to say that president bush is our president.

I have been thinking the exact same think ever since 9/11. Thank G-d it wasn't Clinton, because had he been in the White House at the time America would have taken 9/11 laying down, as it did all the other terrorists acts! It's that attitude that lead to the attack of the September 11th in the first place. They didn't think we would do anything! BUT NOT THIS TIME!

A bit off topic, but...

All four of my grandparents (yes, even my grandmothers - they were in the Women's Army Corps) served in WW2. One uncle served in Vietnam, one aunt and my father were in the Army. Another Unlce served in the Marines. SO..I am from a military-service family.

And I cannot stand when Republicans, or Bush-supporters, claim the soldiers as their own just because Bush sent them. The soldiers serve the president, yes, but no matter who the pres is they will serve.

I support the troops even when I do not support the president. I am a liberal - and since when did Liberal become a dirty word? - and I support our troops.

What I am trying to say is that Liberals support the troops too. Liberals are NOT anti-American. We are NOT anti-'family values'.

see this is one thing scares me. Bush supporters. I am sorry but I don't trust Bush at all. I knew Saddam would show up as soon as his ratings were down. I do believe they have Osama but he will not show up until closer to the election.

I hope you're right.
I really do. I think people will forget about this whole Iraq / Saddam thing as a mission accomplished and more like 'are we still there' issue by the elections. Yes we have to stay and help.

I dont think they'll find Osama that fast.

If they do I'll be the first in line to say 'oh so he was just playing us, but thank GOD they are both done for.' Will I trust him less than I already do as a politican.. probably.. but that's a mistake im willing to be happy to deal with if it causes that much good.
