do you know what street they run down? my friend will kill me if i don't come watch her. i was thinking of doing breakfast/brunch in astoria then hopping over to LIC to see them. But I have no idea where they run and there is NOTHING on the website - it s*cks
on the same note, anyone have a good breakfast/brunch place in LIC or astoria? TIA

it really doesn't matter that much - i like breakfast food, FH likes lunch so if it has both that's perfect. where is 718? I'll either take the R to steinway and walk or switch at Queens plaza. Not sure yet.
its on 35th street and ditmars...its a french, spaniard fusion place...its better off if you take N bc its a few blocks away from the ditmars stop.
thanks! I'm pretty sure i know where that is; i went to some really good italian restaurant around there... trattoria l'incontro i think it was. we loved it.
oh yeah l'incontro is AMAZING, been there quite a few times and each time it was so good...its also the restaurant we picked for our parents to meet.
yeah i loved it! FH got mad at me b/c i told him to pick a place for dinner in astoria one friday. so we were supposed to meet at some mex place right by the ditmars stop. i get off the train first and walk around and don't love the look of the mexican place then see l'incontro and am like b/c i've been dying to try it forever so i put our name down. FH gets off the train and is like 'i am NEVER picking a place again - you always do this!'
he's totally right, but I read zagat, he doesn't plus there is like no good italian in my neighborhood.
i want to take my parents there for their anniversary but they've been already. the food was awesome though.
piccolo venezia in astoria is good too
that's on my list. I took them to sapori d'ischia last year. I think that's woodside though.
OH theres this other italian place, hasnt been open that long but everyone RAVES about it, its called parkside and its in corona
Parkside has been there FOREVER. Unless it moved? It's always been in corona though.

The marathon goes right down Vernon Blvd in LIC. I used to live off Vernon & 47th road and we used to stand on the corner and watch all the time. Also, ther is a GREAT little italian restaurant right on Vernon about 3 blocks from 47th. Grr I can't remember the name! Also, there's another one called Manetta's in LIC oh and Mon Ducati's.

Ok, well scratch Manetta's- they're not open on Sundays. I'm looking for info on the other two. On and BTW- you can take the 7 train to Vernon/Jackson stop and they'll be ppl around waiting for the marathon to run through. You should only have to really walk a few SHORT blocks.

thanks for the food recommendations - now i just need to figure out how to get there (i.e., which subway is closest).
Hey snwb08, its your friend from BARONS!!! (hope you got the mantilla, it looked BEAUTIFUL!). THought I'd share this new one, you can take the subway to Steinway street, its a 2 minute walk from there:
Island : 35-15 36th Street Long Island City, NY 11106 Main: 718.433.0690
It is quite new and BEAUTIFUL, I felt like I was on vacation in the Caribbean, and the brunch menu is fantastic. It's also closer to LIC, if that's where you need to end up! HTH!!!!

Absolutely fantastic, and i'm picky! They have a really interesting brunch menu, lots of the basic stuff, but also 'quirky' combinations that really WORK! Definitely worth a shot, i've been bored to tears by brunch of late so it was nice to find something different...
