Anyone's FH or DH not into wearing rings

Original post by Mrs.Ptobe

It's not to be unfaithful, but seriously, my FH doesn't wear jewelry. He buys me beautiful stuff from Tiffany and a lot of diamond items, my e-ring was more beautiful than I could have imagined and he wants to get me a nice band... but he's told me not to spend too much on his ring b/c he really isn't comfortable in jewlry - he was mugged once and never wore anything but a watch since. In fact he told me - 'get me another watch'.

Anyone else know their FH won't wear the band every day or who's DH doesn't wear the ring every day?

My dad never wore a ring and neither did Fh's... I know my dad wasn't messing around... Is it wierd that some men don't like to wear rings. Not to get into trouble, just don't like the feeling.

Do what works for you.

My FH doesn't wear anything but a watch, but he WILL wear his wedding ring everyday. We both feel it's extremely important. I wouldn't have it any other way -- just like he wouldn't want me walking around without wearing mine. It really won't take that much getting used it for him. It's just a ring.

However, I know plenty of guys who don't wear their wedding rings. What is important is how you both feel about it. If that's not a big deal to you, then don't worry about it. It's certainly not necessarily a sign that he'll be unfaithful at all.

Men wearing wedding rings didn't become popular until about the 1960s...

I think he can get used to it and should give it a try especially if he's never worn a ring before,
but if he doesn't like it its no big deal.

My FBIL is a vet and sticks his hands in places we don't want to know about, so he never wears his.

I have a couple of horses and all of my male vets have always worn wedding bands... I always thought about that when they slipped on the shoulder-length gloves...

Personally, I think that this is an issue of respect. I can understand if he has a profession where it would be life-threatening to wear the ring to work, but I think it's incredibly disrespectful under any other circumstance. FH told me that he probably wouldn't wear it all the time because he was uncomfortable in rings. I told him that he would just have to get used to it. He now realizes how important it is to me to wear it all the time and he is willing to do if for me.

I do agree... but I also understand that others feel differently. It would be a deal-breaker to me if my FH didn't want to wear his wedding band -- but that's not true for everyone.

Luckily, FH feels the same way.

My DH doesn't wear his to work...he can't because he fixes copy machines and has to stick his hand in tight spaces...at first it bothered me but I realize it's just a thing of safety/practicality....

In the beginning he also pretty much only wore it when we went out to dinner or were going to see friends/family but now that he's gotten more used to it he wears it whenever he leaves the house not for work even if its just to run to the grocery store or something...I think he was willing to give it a chance mostly beacuse it was important to me and realized it isn't so bad after all

FH will not be wearing his. He is a mechanic and can't. He will wear it when he gets home and on weekends though. My dad never wears his. He is an Electrican and isn't allowed to. And he is always working so he dosen't want to get it ruined or to lose his finger.

I friend of mine actually used to wear his to work. He does maintence in buildings. and one day he got it stock on a pipe and it wound up ripping off part of his finger. they said he could have lost his whole finger. So it is dangerous for men in construction to wear there rings.

my DH didn't wear any jewlery at all. When we went to pick out rings he thought they looked weird on him and felt funny. When we first got married he was so aware of the ring, but now he says if he didn't have it on, he would feel weird without it.

DH wanted a ring that wouldn't be too tight on, but not too loose b/c he plays drums and didn't want it cutting off his finger while he played, but didn't want it flying off either, so he went with the lightweight and small white gold, and now he's gotten so used it, he can't imagine taking it off.

My parents never wear their rings! I can't remember if I ever saw them wear them LOL...but I know their originals were stolen a long time ago..

my FH is not into rings but he is gonna wear it and he is gonna like it...that's all, bottom line

DH didn't even wear a watch when we first met. I never really thought about it when I bought his wedding gift (necklace). However things can change b/c my DH wears his wedding gift every single day, and his wedding ring every single day.

DH never wore jewelry and it took him a while to get used to his wedding ring. but now he wears it all the time with no complaints.

I fight with FH about this all the time. He doesn't wear any jewelery or even a watch. It's important to me that he wear one though. My dad stopped wearing his because he said it didn't fit anymore but it turned out he was having an affair. So now it's kind of an issue with me.

My FH never had any other jewelry than a watch and said that he didn't think he would be comfortable wearing a ring. He found one that he says is extremely comfortable and he can't wait to wear it. He got mugged two times in the past and is very worried about commuting to the city and working late. His ring has a lot of little diamonds in it. We might get him a very plain, cheap band to wear to work since he is so worried.

FH hates jewelry, and doesn't own any.... His parents also don't wear their wedding rings...

But, I told him he has to wear the ring... It can be whatever he wants, but it'll be on every day...

He agreed.....

DH wears his everyday, he loves it. Before we got married he told me that he will probably only wear it when we go out on special occasions, but he loves his ring so much, he wears it everyday. However when he starts his busy season at work (he is a mechanic at an amusement park) he will not wear a ring to work. None of the guys do and I totally understand why. However when he is home or we go out somewhere, he will have it on.
