anyones fh work at the post office/mail man?

do they like it? is there any kind of requirement?
fh is getting ready to quit his job and is looking into this. not sure if the pay is any good or if this is worth it

anyone who can shed some light on this. i'll love you forever ;)

I think its a decent job, money-wise and the whole 401k, vacation time..its pretty secure..etc..

But having said that..my father works for the post office..and the saying 'Going Postal' couldn't be more on the mark here A lot of post office workers I find are miserable..I don't think its a good work enviorment and I think it ends up bringing the workers down...

He could do it for a little while as an inbetween job..

Would he consider Sanitation or Court Officer?

yea the sanitation department makes really good money....

It is a tough job...not what everyone thinks it is..... I do know that they are not hiring anymore permanent career carriers so if he wanted to do something else within the post office that would be better. There is no pension, but they have you set up a retirement account that you put money in to. You can retire after 25 years and the medical, dental, and eye care benefits are GREAT.
FM me if you have anymore questions..... oh...you do have to take the test and the whole process takes a few months. There is a drug test, physical, and they call a bunch of references. Oh and they do background checks on you. I think that is all......hmmm...I will write more if I think of anything else.

Yeah it is not all that it is cracked up to be.... it is VERY political!

yes my FH is a mailman....hes been there since october 06....so far so good, the money is good, he drives the truck though and isnt out on his feet most of the day...maybe only like 3 hours......he says the being on the feet and pushing the mail cart in the snow is the worse though

requirements i think only hs diploma or GED, license

Don't let him do it!!! My FH is a mailman and he HATES it!!!! They just took away all his overtime with no sign of it ever coming back and the money isnt that great. all the bosses are jerks (they get shuffled around all the time and they are all awful!) Its really hard to take a day off or call in sick. they work every saturday. FH is looking to get out! FM me if you want more info. HTH

i think the overtime depends ont he station....my FH made alot of money in 07 because he gets overtime every single day in his station

My FH has worked for the Sanitation Dept for about 8 years now. He absolutely loves it! The money is really good. Once you get some seniority the hours aren't too bad. A lot of the guys who are getting ready to retire take the overnight shifts bc they make more money and it increases their pension. Their benefits are great! FM me for more info.
