anything you're NOT doing?

So I keep seeing lots of stuff brides are doing and I keep thinking..nope I'm NOT doing that.

Anything you're not doing that lots of other brides are? Any other really innovative ideas that you are?

I'm NOT having:

programs. people throw them away

menus - I'm sorta torn. I really don't care either way though.

crying packs - who's crying at my wedding?

cigar roller - I'm really completely W T F over this. I don't want everyone outside smoking cigars at my wedding. and lots of people hate the smell.

silly dances - yeah hate them

Garter - Bouquet toss - after seeing a girl in hysterics over this..yeah skipping it. It makes some people really upset.

That's a quick list. anyone else? Any thoughts?

I haven't even gotten this far in my planning...


I don't think I will do cry packs.. I may need to take something so i dont cry im an emotional mess at weddings...


I prob will not do the Viennese hr- bc the idea and chocolate and my dress don't mix.. lol


I won't do the YMCA, or any other cheesy dances at my wedding

we are not having a professional photog. We are going to be relying on family friends for pics.

we are not doing fancy limos. I don't understand the need for a bus or a classic car. For me these seem like an unnecessary expense.

we also aren't doing table numbers, escort cards ect. The hall provides these and we will just be using theirs. I'm not really crafty to do these things myself.

Cigar Roller-, FH is really fighting me on this one...but i CAN NOT stand the smell of cigars! its beyond disgusting and if my dress, hair, or anything even comes close to smelling like a damn cigar...sh$t will hit the fan...he is now trying to compromise and have the man roll at the very end of the night so i wont have to deal with everyone smoking them.

Silly Dances....i will not be having the chicken dance..ymca...etc..yaaa not ganna happen

crying packs...hhhahaha i thought the same thing...il prob be the
only one shedding tears lol...first off my mom has no idea what a crying pack is...im not really sure she cares what she will be crying into.....but well see about that one.

ahhh FH completely blindsided me this morning saying that he wants to get some cigars because it's 'tradition' to smoke it after you get married. The though crossed my mind to surprise him with the a cigar roller but

a) He quite smoking cigs like 2 years ago...makes me nervous that he'll remember the good times lol
b) I am one of those people who can't stand cigar smoke, it makes me nauseous!
c) I don't want him to be given the extra ones to take home because of reasons a and b.

I like little details like personalized menus but ehh, it won't kill me if I don't have all that stuff. We're also not doing engagement shoot.

Innovative idea though... At least it is to me, for the first 20 minutes of dinner we hired a belly dancer to come in and perform. My family is middle eastern so it's a tribute to the culture and entertainment while nobody is one the dance floor :)

Just to comment on your menu situation, you should at least have two at each table so that the guests know what they can choose and what to expect, no?

I dont even feel like having a wedding anymore id rather buy shoes lol just kidding (kind of) I really love shoes

but anyway

Crying packs ehhhhh no use ur clothes lol... slipper baskets , renting china , linens chaircovers hmmmm theres alot more just cant think of them right now

hmm haven't really put much thought into this but def not doing

- cry packs
- cigar rollers (no need to pay extra $ - ppl can bring their own cigars )
- customized menus

i'm drawing a blank but i'm sure this list will get bigger

She's gorgeous and amazingly talented and sweet.

yeah add limos to my list. I have no reason for one either. we're getting married at the RH..if I ever book it. lol

This post cracked me up!!

We're not doing cry packs either - let people bring their own tissues!! And FH wanted a cigar roller at first but I told him I don't enjoy kissing ashtrays so that outta the picture now.

we're not doing:

- Candy Bar
- Cigar Roller
- Cry Packs
- Garter Toss
- Bouquet Toss
- Viennesse Hour (at least not the kind where they roll out a big display in the middle of the dance floor - the Riviera calls it 'A Taste of Viennesse' which is on a smaller scale in another room).
- Aisle Runner

Those are all the the things I can think of at the moment, but I'm sure there are a lot of other random things we aren't doing

EDIT: the only EXTRA thing we are doing that I can think of is our Steel Drummer at the CH.

inner spirit yoga w roni in e northport does them.

Ok, here is my long list lol

1) We are not getting married at a church
2) Not having a traditional ceremony, we will be using our own vows and doing a hand ceremony
3 )not having a cigar roller, both of us have bad asthma,lol
4) All though my mom wants the chicken dance we refuse to play it, however we are doing the jump on it!!!!!
5) No garter, that freaks me out!!!!!!!!
6) No bouquet toss, there is always like one woman out there!!!!!! We are prob gonna do the couple married the longest dance instead.
7) no chocolate fountain, if people keep dropping their food in there it grosses me out, I really want a gelato station
8) Not doing a photo-both cause it costs too much, however as most of you girls know we are creating our own vintage photo area with props like stick mustaches, fans, pipes, top hats, hair feather and lace parasol
9) Not spending a lot on invites, I refuse to when people just throw them away, we did em DIY
10) Not doing BBB or any of those other places for
registry, I can not see guests spending $30 for a cupcake pan I can get at homegoods for $10, we will be doing the honeymoon registry
11) We are doing donations for favors, instead of the usual stuff.
12) Instead of a string quartet we are having an acapella group sing during the ceremony
Unique Stuff:
I think our wedding is very unique and personal from the ceremony to the end here is some extra stuff we are doing.
1)For the library we are using books as the table centerpieces, with titles that are reflective of the guests.
2) photo area by the fire place, that we are creating

Crashing!


We didn't have a Viennese hr bc we didn't want everyone to stop dancing to sit down again to eat sweets.

We also didn't have limos. We paid for cabs to take our guests who stayed at the hotel to the RH and I drove myself with my mom and my best friend was a 3 mile drive and was acutally such a good little drive, we had great conversation and I was so excited!

I also didn't have a coordinator. I planned my entire wedding myself with DH's help.

ETA I also didn't register for China b/c I'll NEVER use it

I also didn't get married in a Church.

at this point i'm even thinking of just doing jordan almonds as favors and calling it a day (i'm italian so that idea will work lol)
