appliance color

the range, dishwasher, and microwave are all white in our new kitchen as are the cabinets (YUCK)

we really love the silver look and are debating whether to put a silver refrigerator in with the other white apppliances

I would go with a white refrigerator...So everything matches. You can always paint the kitchen to break up the blandness

Re: appliance color

sure! and you could always add a silver teapot and microwave to bring it all together.

ETA: der..you said you have a microwave. however, there are other fixtures/accessories you could add. even a coffee pot or art work of some sort.

actually ALL our other coutertop stuff is black and silver: our toaster ove, our coffee maker is black, my spinning spice rack is black and silver, and my utensil holder is black

Can't you choose different cabinets or appliances?

I would not mix stainless and white.
Stainless and black go OK together but IMO not white because the trip on stainless is almost always black.

Re: appliance color

I love the look of stainless but the maintenance is a pain. Especially if you are planning on having little kids/puppies running around the house. My SIL has a stainless fridge and it looks great when clean, but with a 4 year old and a 2 year old it always has fingerprints on it! I would personally stick with white appliances, they are the easiest to clean!

we are not going for stainless...we are going for silver color, there IS a difference.

Wendy: to get different cabinets is an upgrade that we are unwilling to pay for now, maybe down the road.

Hmmm ... why 'unwilling'?? (I don't know, that just sounded so strong ).

JMO, it would be much easier to upgrade now rather than later if you can swing it $$$. The hassle of being without the kitchen is not so much fun

This is true! It stinks, we have been without a fully working kitchen for over a month now and it reallly stinks!

Re: appliance color

I bought a stainless double wall oven (kind of silver) and my cabinents and other appliances are beige. It doesn't look bad - although my oven is kind of off to the side in a brick wall - only next to the fridge. It has black accents. All the little things in my kitchen - microwave, toaster oven, dish rack, accessories (utensil and paper towel holders. etc.) are silver or silver/black.

I do plan on renovating my kitchen in the next 3 or so years but needed a new oven now. I am no way ready to do my entire kitchen right now...so I looked towards my future rather than the now.

Re: appliance color

also, just FYI, my kitchen has a mix of everything. for instance, my stove is almond and black, my dishwasher is black, my fridge is almond and my microwave is black. it sounds terrible, but we chose it that way and it actualy looks great. you know, like we didn try so hard to make everything match. ill get some pics for ytou if i can.
