Appointment/venue advice
Hi everyone! I am new to this site but loving it already. We have appointments next weekend to see:Fox hollow
North ritz club
Woodbury country club
Carlyle on the green
Sands Atlantic beach
Sandcastle
We are planning on winter 2016 for 140-150 people on a Saturday or Sunday. Fox hollow is the front runner in my mind :)
I would love any advice about these venues, quotes and anything to share about what to watch out for at venues!!
Unrelated but anyone have trouble uploading a picture for profile? It doesn't recognize pictures from my iPhone!
Thanks in advance everyone!!!

I'm getting married at Fox Hollow so I am a little bit biased I guess ;) I love it there. We are booked in the Garden Terrace room. Our minimum is 175 in that room for a Friday night. They told us a minimum of 110 for Winter Garden (seemed small to fit our desired 150) and a minimum of 150 for Somerley (but I've seen other brides who also have a minimum of 175 for Somerley). You have FM with my quotes. They are for Summer/Fall 2016, so for winter they'd definitely be lower so just keep that in mind. =)

It was the venue where my parents had their reception 27 years ago.. Their reception was in our cocktail room :) we also loved the outdoor space and photo opportunities. Their reputation also speaks for itself. What also sold me was NO CARPETS in the ballrooms. A huge pet peeve of mine was smelly carpets lol I have issues clearly.

Re: Appointment/venue advice
Hi - took me forever to figure out how to get my profile pic up. You have to go to 'MY LIWedding' at the top and then click on acount profile. One top left, there looks like a place that a picture should go...click on it and it takes a few seconds to load and you should be able to choose your profile pic.Fox Hollow was originally my first choice too. But in the end, it came down to these things:
1) Fox Hollow couldn't accommodate as many people as The North Ritz Club.
2) Fox Hollow wouldn't work on pricing with me like the NRC did
3) NRC only has one event at a time and Fox Hollow can have 2.
4) Fox Hollow's Winter Garden Room is a little more long and narrow compared to the NRC's. And there is more room for a band at the NRC, as compared to Fox Hollow's Winter Garden Room, where they would have to be between the two bars (feels cramped).
5) I don't like the outside of the Winter Garden Room....it's a hallway. No room for a photobooth (but they have a smallish area near the bridal suite that could accommodate a small one).
The first 2 were my main deciding points on choosing the NRC, and the last 3 are just nit picky.
I like that Fox Hollow offers the B&G a complimentary suite the night of the wedding at their Inn. It's a nice touch.
My advice is to negotiate as much as you can, especially if you're having your wedding during the winter.
Good luck!

I'm getting married in the Somerley - we were about 99% sure we were booking at lands end and then the Somerley blew us away. The food is amazing st fox (I've been to two weddings there before) and the Somerley is essentially a separate entity

I've heard great things about the Somerely! Would you mind sharing some information about the minimum guests and quotes?

I went to a wedding at Carlyle on the Green a few weeks ago. What a great venue! You honestly don't need to decorate much, it feels like you are walking into someone's house. Service was great, rooms were beautiful. If I had the minimum for a venue like that, I would've definitely chosen them.As for the Sand Castle, last time I went there was over 10 years ago for a Christening party. I will tell you that the venue is on a main road, not sure if that is a minus for you. The place isn't really my style, but if you dig what you see, I'd say go for it.

I vote Milleridge but I am biased! I know very few people on here would agree but I found the banquet managers very snobby at Fox and they were very inflexible on every question I had!

I will say that the Carlyle on the Green is pricey. I think the bride paid about $130pp, and that was in an off month (January). And I think she talked them down from $160pp.
