you're better off going to an actual appraiser, the jeweler you bought it from will always appraise it for a much higher amount to make it seem like theyre giving you a deal.
With the appraiser, they have no idea what your FH paid for it -- I went to the appraiser with all my paperwork and I sat there while he was telling me what he thought my ring was (color, clarity, etc) -- he got every single thing exactly the same as my GIA report.
He appraised it for about $1500 less than the jeweler appraised it for and FH paid less than that anyway, so he got a good deal.
does that make sense?
yes it makes perfect sense............now how do i find an appraiser????

its all going to be our money in the end, but he paid for the appraisal and i paid to insure it.

What is protocol? The guy or the girl? Or does it not matter?
My fiance thinks I should pay for it since he bought it.
Personally I think HE should pay for the appraisal BUT in my case b.c I already was wearing the ring and I had more time than him I did it and just used my credit card. It was a good price if anyone needs a good place to go FM me.
