Re: April Brides...

It's really exciting for me to listen to all of you talk about your weddings being so close because I will be doing the same thing around this time next year (my wedding is April 16, 2004 at EastWind).
Does anyone have any advice that you wish you would have taken but didn't for some reason or another?
Good luck to all of you and don't stress! Everything will be perfect on your day!

Re: April Brides...

I kept thinking I had all this time. But as soon asthe holidays came the time flew! I should have done more (like book my makeup person) sooner! There are girls getting married after us that have like everything done - printed materials, BP gifts, everything! But no...not me! LOL! Just wish I did a lot much earlier!

I remember when I had a year! It was a fun day! Enjoy!

I was the same way!! i keep thinking I will take a break from wedding stuff over the holidays, I had plenty of time, and next thing you knew the holidays were over and I was starting to panic about getting things done! If i was to do it again I would have been more strict with the guest list. Between my parents and FI at least a quarter of teh guest I have never met before!!

Here's what's in my bathroom basket for the women:

brush
comb
pony tail holders
hair clips
sewing kit
personal flossers
bobby pins
breath mints
tissues (individual packs)
wet tissues
saftey pins
asprin
band aids
clear nail polish
emory boards
feminine products
hand lotion
perfume
stain remover
lint remover
something to make the place smell pretty

Can you think of anything else that might be needed? I have the stuff for the men's basket but it isn't together yet. If I get a chance I will take and post a pick of the basket.

What about hair spray or gel? That's the only other thing I can think of......

Re: April Brides...

Hi Ladies!
OMG!!! is all i have to say. i feel awful for saying this, but it is so nice to hear that others are having a rough time too. i have SOOOO much left to do. i tried to do all of this in less than 5 months, plus i live out of state and i am just FREAKING out!!
i have my first fitting tomorrow, i just booked hair and make up, and i bought my bridal party gifts today (plus parent gifts) so that feels good. ordered the bands (finally). but FH has not yet ordered tuxes and that is really troubling me. the more i ask / nag/ remind gently, the less likely he is to do it!!!!! plus we are already a little tense so i am really trying not to push too hard. still have not finished making the favors and also have not picked music yet. acckkk! don't know how everything is going to get done, but i guess the day will come whether we are ready or not!
Our RSVP date was today and still have 70 outstanding responses! what is wrong with people??!! BUT, the max we can possibly be is 150 (we got over 50 no's) which is good because that is the max for our hall!!!

i love the shower basket idea! if i had more time,....
stay well ladies and remember to breathe deep!

Aww - don't feel awful - I know what you mean! I am relieved when I hear I am not the only one so far behind! You sound like you're going a mile a minute! Relax, smile, enjoy! The time will come whether you're ready or not and from the looks of it - you will be ready! FH should go for tuxes soon though - is there a creative way you can get him to do it? Offer him something great - alone time and wine? - after he goes? You know - use honey instead of vinegar - or whatever that saying would be (I am really bad with cliches, lol!)

Good luck to you! You've done an amazing job in 5 months!

Re: April Brides...

Hi everyone! How are we all holding up? I got a call from John Anthonys Saturday to schedule a day during the week to come in to pick the menu and linens. They're going to give us the floor plan and place cards. I actually said, 'OMG' to the woman on the phone, who just kinda laughed and said it was all going to be okay.

I've had 2 fittings so far and my final try on is April 17. 5 1/2 weeks to go and still so much to do! At least after Wednesday I can do the menu cards and get those out of the way.

Any ideas of where to get nice paper for the menu cards and programs?

Re: April Brides...

Where are you looking - Long Island? NYC? There is a paper store on Rte 110 in Huntington, but they are only open till 6 during the week and till 2 on Saturday. And I am not 100% sure of the name. There is also Paper Access in Manhattan, but I don't know if that's convenient for you. http://www.paperaccess.com

Maybe you should start a new thread? There are lots of crafty ladies here who might be able to help better than I!

Re: April Brides...

Long Island or NYC (midtown) are both convenient. I actually have off on Fridays which has been a G*D send in planning the wedding, so I'll check out the rte 110 place on Friday.

Do you think Michaels would have a decent selection?

Re: April Brides...

Oh - here is a thread with the name of the place in Huntington Paper thread
I went to Michaels in Westbury to get some ideas - they did have some but from what I understand it was a small selection. They had some nice (but plain) cards and vellum overlays (sized appropriately). They also had larger size paper you could cut yourself. I wasn't WOWed by their selection - I liked the paper I had seen in both Staples and Office Max better. And everyone tells me this paper store in Huntington can't be beat! I bought some of the paper from Michaels so I can start working on prototypes, but I am hoping for a btter find somewhere else!

I WANT FRIDAYS OFF TOO! WAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
