eventhough your RH said they will make it for you?
I am considering making my own along with the place cards and table numbers because my RH makes their's pretty plain looking. However when i look at how much i will be spending, it seems pretty crazy to go thru all of this and the guests may not even notice. What do you think?

Guest will notice, because it is your work. I did my menus, in my album, It only cost me 40 dollars to do them.

I don't think our rh makes menus for the event. I'll make ours.

Re: Are any of you making your menus
our RH supplies a single menu per table..so i'm probably gonna do my own... I'll probably just get all the paper and stuff from michael's or AC moore.

Me too. I just don't have the time or the patience. I also checked out a couple of vendors and the prices are too high.

Re: Are any of you making your menus
I am making my own, yes. Made a sample a few months ago:
I am making my own programs, menu's and table cards and this is what I bought: white card stock, ribbon, package of table cards, paper cutter, rinestones, glue, and a few misc things...I prob spent $65. (Don't forget about ink catridges)
Also if you want to buy matching colored paper to mount under your white menu...it could get expensive. I am not doing this. Also I made a mock menu in my album. Will post more pics when I finalize everything!!!!

I haven't even talked to vendors about this yet ! I am curious as to how much they charge for this and what vendors actually do this , i think my invitation place does, but i am not 100% thrilled with them anway

i am making menus and maybe programs; I made favor tags this past weekend so I will make the menus to match. all very simple though - just ivory paper over dark brown cardstock.
if the rh made menus I would just use theirs, but they don't. place cards I just bought the pack that you can print yourself

Re: Are any of you making your menus
I made mine! I did it on recycled paper...
How they looked on the table
We folded them so that only the monogram and the word 'MENU' showed and we stamped the back with a bride and groom kissing- i think they came out pretty and it was a nice personal touch
Actual menu

haven't decided. actually need to find out if RH does them I'm not sure it's worth the $$ to make them, then have the waitstaff just take them off the table and toss them.
i didn't make ours - i just took the venue's and put our logo at the top.
yes - they're pretty, yes they make the table look nice....but the fact of the matter is, not one person is going to take them home and keep them forever...
if you can afford it - go for it - but do not stress yourself over it.

Re: Are any of you making your menus
I'm really undecided about this. I was going to make them, cus I thought it might make the ordering process smoother, and was a nice touch. FH thinks I'm crazy, and just creating more 'unnecessary work' for myself. He says, 'when have we ever gone to a wedding where they have a MENU on teh table?' The answer is never, but why can't we be the first? :)
So how to menus work... do you put one on an easel for the whole table to look at, or do you have one for each person? and then what do you do with it after everyone orders?
I have gotten myself a little over my head with DIY's in the last month before the wedding, so I'm wondering if this is something I could cut.
What do you ladies think? Have you been to a weddign before with menus? What is everyone's reaction?

personally I like having my own menu at a wedding....that way you're not fighting over it and you can see the detail of what your options are...JMO!
