My boyfriend wants our engagement to perfect and he spent the last year and a half saving for it and being top secret about when it will be and my ring details. I did give him pictures of rings I liked but that was it. Last night as we were leaving my house my mom came over to us and says 'Jessica, James asked us today if he could marry you and we said yes' We both looked at her like WHY WOULD YOU TELL ME THAT! She said she 'didn't know' it was a secret. Well so much for a surprize, now I know he was planning to ask me really soon. Im so angry, I feel like my surprize is partly ruined. He was so crushed that she blew things.

awww. i think that is really sweet that she did that. i think you should look at it as her showing you how happy your parents are for you.

I guess your right. James said when he asked them she said 'should I get Jessica since this is about her?' and James had to explain that while he's on his knee I'll have to option to refuse.

Aww Your mom must have been so excited that she couldnt hold it in anymore.... I knew it was coming sometime soon when I got engaged but it was still a surprise cause I had no clue he would do it that night

Dont be too upset. You still dont know the exact date. and believe me, even if you did, it would still be extremely special. I knew around when it was coming and it was still kind of like a surprise...idk, when something that major happends, it shocks you even if you know about it . Congrats!

aww I'm sorry this happened but in the other hand!! you'll truly get surprised one he does it you'll see who is to say that he's not planning something else??? I THINK the day of...you will be extremely surprise and soo happy :) congrats :)

First, CONGRATS!!! I'm sorry she blew the secret, but she was probably so excited it sort of 'slipped' because it was so hard to hold in anymore. Don't worry though it's so exciting to be engaged anyway and you'll enjoy it even if it isn't a total shocker of a moment anymore.
A friend of mine slipped the night I got engaged after she saw the ring and basically said 'John has a ring so you should expect it sometime in the near future....' I wasn't expecting it the next am but rather like sometime in a month or so but even still it stunk that she told me it was even coming..... I have to say when he got down on his knee, expected or not, I was still blown away because that my 'my moment' and it was still absolutely wonderful.

Jess thats such wonderful news!!!! im sooo happy for you! plus it doesnt help that i love wedding and im just as excited for yours as i was for my own!!
p.s. yes some parenst are totally clueless... my mom ask nick if he wanted her to leave? so he could talk to my dad he said no i want you to be here also!

I read your post and laughed, my mother is just like that, she has no clue. Not her fault though
I asked her a couple a days ago to give me a list of people she wants to come to the wedding, she tells me, 'oh, I didn't realized you were still doing it' now who says that?
