IMO - yes
I agree but alot of people have no choice
eta - it does look nice in pictures though! ( as long as you dont have people like my FMIL who takes a bunch of the bubble things and sticks it in her bag!! she wont blow the bubbles!!) <~ sorry that just annoys me

Re: Are bubbles played out?
Yeah I guess that is how the whole bubble thing came about ..not being able to throw other things. I am going to talk to the church maybe if I have someone clean it up they will allow it. ..or should I just not have anything thrown..do people do that?

Re: Are bubbles played out?
I don't think so at all. I've only been to 1 wedding where anyone used bubbles and we're using them. Rosepetals wilt and the last wedding we were at we had to hold them for like 15 mins while the bride and groom were still inside and it was annoying b/c they weren't in anything!!
I like bubbles and think they make for beautiful photos!

How about butterfly's or doves?? However, I do think they are a little pricy.

Re: Are bubbles played out?
With my luck the whole idea would be a ht, but the actual outcome of butterflies of doves would be a disaster ....I need to stick with simplicity.

i was gonna use them too...they come out really nice on video too...specially if they catch a black and white shot.
but nowadays, u cant throw anything, and IMO rice annoys me...gets into ur dress, hair etc...

Re: Are bubbles played out?
I think it's still okay to use bubbles... I don't think it's played at all. You HEAR about them alot but how many people have actually been to that many weddings where they were used???
Another option is the ribbon wands. I think they are really cute and different even if stupid Trista did almost ruin them for us all!!
OH I love the ribbon Wands....WHERE CAN I GET THEM????????????

As far as I know you can't buy them anywhere... you gotta make them!
ETA: Either my FMIL is going to make these for me (how, I don't know!) or we are getting streamer throws!

Re: Are bubbles played out?
bubbles are pretty cute, IMO ... and I'm also not a fan of wedding rice or birdseed
also like rose petals but was wondering about the whole 'wilting' issue, esp. since our wedding is in the dead of summer! (July)
So we're sticking to the bubbles most likely, 'played' or not!

Re: Are bubbles played out?
If the wind is blowing the wrong way the bubbles never reach the bride and groom. I've been to a couple weddings where they had bubbles and I didn't really think they worked out too well. JMO The last wedding I went to the photographer was shouting for people to blow bubbles so he could get a nice shot. Between people not paying attention and the wind it just wasn't happening.
