Are people for real

Are people for real

My Aunt called me today to ask why her son wasnt invited to the wedding. I nicely explained that we had to draw the line somewhere. Needless to say, she flipped out.
But the reasons he wasnt invited is
1. At my sisters wedding 8 yrs ago he decided to pull down his pants and show EVERYONE his scooby do boxes. He was so drunk the waiters cut him off.
2. At my other sisters wedding 3 yrs ago: My sister was dancing with my uncle and he pulled my uncles pant down. This was supposed to be a serious moment and no one wanted to see my 65 yr. old uncle standing in his tighty whitey. . Again the waiter had to refuse to serve him.
3. He then proceeded to tell my 4 yr old niece the way to keep a man in life is to give good BJ's. And every other word out of his mouth is 'F'
4. He did something to his back and is now addicted to painpills. Actually switches Dr. every other month for new prescriptions. Has been sent to rehab 4 times over the last yr.
5. Went hunting with my brother in November and was pointing the gun at my bro's dog and teasing him so the dog bit him. He now leaves nasty messages at least once a week saying he is suing my brother and will own his house.
5. When hunting, he decided that he didnt like the way the neighbor looked at him so went and pee'd on his door then smashed his tree stand to hunt in.

Mind you, he is in his mid 40's. My aunt knows of each and everyone of the above episodes and she has the balls to question why he wasnt invited. She told me I was an absolute DISGRACE. Is she for real. The whole family has major drinking problems. They have countless DWI's and have spent so much time in rehab. Why should I even have to justify why they werent invited.
The fact that she told me I was a disgrace really pisses me off.

I wouldn't invite someone like that either, and you do not have to justify to anyone why he is not invited. His actions speak for themselves.

Let your aunt know if she is so upset about it and if you are disgracing the family so much by not having him there, then she doesn't have to come. As much as they might bother you, it will be less stress in the long run. You should be surrounded by friends and family that will be happy for you and your FH, not pissed off.

You have every right to state who is and isn't invited! Good for you for sticking to your guns on this one! He doesn't sound like a positive person, or a person who needs to be invited to elegant affairs, such as weddings!

OMG!!! The nerve of some people. I can't believe see asked you why? You don't have to justify who you invite and don't invite to YOUR wedding. Calling you a disgrace...maybe she got confused and ment her son was a disgrace?? I wouldn't let that get to you. She's probablly mad b/c she knows what a a$$$ her son is and doesn't want to admit it

Deb, family just s*cks sometimes. You do NOT have to justify your decisions to anyone. If your aunt thinks that you are such a disgrace (I can't believe she said that ) then she can just stay home with her pill addicted son!

Good for you that you stuck to your guns, but I would post a guard at the door to the reception to make sure he stays out.

I agree you never know she might bring him anyway.

Im so with you on this. Dont be surprised if he makes a guest appearance. Let your banquet manager know that this may happen and give him carte blanche to kick any unruly people out. I did that but fortunately everyone was on their best behavior.

Oh believe me, half my guests are cops and correction officers, there is no way he would even get in. Besides he is usually too drugged up to move.
I hope my aunt decides not to come now as well. I dont need it. We need to invite a way to retract invites.

OH LORD! I wouldn't invite him either! There isn't a chance of him showing up uninvited is there? That would concern me given his past behavior (not to scare you or anything).....You should def. alert your hall of any uninvited guests.

By the way, you are 100% right in this situation....100%

He may make the wedding exciting!! Either way you should invite who YOU want to invite, not your aunt.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I'm sorry your Aunt said that to you. It seems as though she thinks everyone should just overlook her son's horrid behavior. She really needs to come back to earth and realize HE is the disgrace and needs to get help.

I would tell your aunt that if you're such a disgrace, she probably shouldn't come to the wedding. I wouldn't want her there after what she said to you. she may cause a scene.

OMG People really are crazy and your aunt is crazy in denial! If anything she should thank you for not inviting him so she (and the rest of your family) can relax and not have to worry about any of his 'episodes'. Good for you for not inviting him. Your day will be much calmer and happier without someone like that around.

Re: Are people for real

wow! she's a disgrace for calling you!

sadly she probably is one of those mom's who will always bail out her son, and blame EVERYONE else for his problems. The classic Enabler.

oh well--don't let her calling you names bother you, she is so in denial of her son's problems that all she can do is lash out at you for it.

Holy Crap Debbie! When you said pulled down his pants to show his scooby doo boxers, I thought you were talking about a 6 year old, not a man in his 40's!
I dont blame you for not inviting him, but if your aunt knows about his behavior, shame on her for telling you that you are a disgrace.
Although sometimes everyone finds a drunks behavior a little funny, I am sure the rest of your guests would appreciated not having someone at the wedding who may 'pants' them when they least expect it.
