Just wondering if there were any brides ages 30+ here. Or anyone who is getting married for the second time?
I'll be almost 34 and FH will be 37.

Re: Are there any older or second time brides here?
I'm 37 (will be 38 for the wedding), FH is 42 (will be 43 for the wedding). It'll be the first marriage for us both. We've been together for 12 years.
I agree that things are a little easier for us now then they were when we first started dating. We're settled in our careers, so we're making much more money. We've paid off our student loans and we'll be able to put 20% down on our house (when we find one we like).
I'm also finishing up treatment for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. so between going through an illness together and being older, our wedding definitely won't be anything that I would've had in my 20's. We're looking forward to celebrating a joyous event with our families and friends.

old. . . you all are mere babes. I didn't pick oldladybride as id for nothing
I'm (eeks and egad) 56 and he was 61 when we got married. First time for both of us with just 3 years before we got engaged.
I thought we were a bit long in the tooth for a traditional wedding but also wanted one cause I missed it when I was younger. So that's what we did. just about the whole shooting match except for garter and bok toss. and we loved every minute of it.
I think it was easier now than if I were younger cause some of the little thing you could stress about, I didn't bother about and I took time to enjoy a couple of DIY projects - - invites, pew bows and pink rose shaped lollipops. Now those did cause some stress since it took way to long to make batches of them and I needed 80 lollipops. but all's well and happily ever after . . .

Is that really 'older' brides though? I mean 31 is an old bride?? do many people still get married in their early twenties anymore??
Nothing wrong with it either way but it seems more people are focusing on careers first and I just don't know too many peopld that have gotten married younger than 29 recently. Maybe it's just my friends.

I think a lot of people still get married mid-20s. I'm 26, FH is 25. He'll be graduating from medical school a few days before the wedding, and I'm working on vet school... so we did put careers first (8 years of dating...), but I guess if you meet young you can do both careers first and mid-20s marraige?
We're going to 7 weddings this year, (2 down, 5 to go!), all people we went to school with who are our age and who are 'professionals' (i.e. grad school or beyond...)
8 weddings if you count my 21 year old cousin in Indiana, but outside NY it's a whole different world when it comes to marriage...

FH and I will both be 31 when we get married. Would I do anything different than if I got married in my early 20s? Definitely. I have more money to be able to have the kind of wedding I want then if I had gotten married in my 20s.

As an older bride, do you think you will (or did) anything different at your wedding then if you were in your early 20s?
No garter toss, no bo-k toss, no smushing of the cake. No STD's, no bathroom basket, no cry packs, no slipper basket. Spent that money on food upgrades and top shelf liquor. Only MOH and BM, FG. No limos since we got married at the RH. I drove myself and the BM took my car to the hotel afterwards. At the end of the wedding, DH and I had a town car pick us up.
Most of our guests were older too, so we went with a bit more sophisticated reception. No rap music, no line dancing other than the Stroll, a lot of jazz and Rat Pack music. Oh, and the music wasn't blaringly loud either. I can't stand when that happens. Spent more money on the flowers just because I wanted to.

Hi!
I am 33 - my first marriage FH is 42 - his second marriage (with a child)
If it was my second as well I would have done a simple ceremony on the beach in Jamaica but wanted my parents and family at my wedding. We are keeping it low key though. If I was in my early twenties I probably would have a much bigger wedding only because when I was younger I dreamed of the big wedding...now my pocketbook just can't handle it!

i'm 29 and FH is 30...older in comparison to most of the girls on the boards, but young still in spirit!
