are these favors 'classy' enough? (w/ pic)

are these favors 'classy' enough? (w/ pic)

So, I am going favor shopping tomorrow with my mom. Our original plan was to put some kind of chocolate/candy wrapped in colored tulle, tied with a ribbon. Keep it simple, and in my experience (and my mom's) non-edible favors tend to get left on the tables a lot, so this is something simple that hopefully people will actually take.

It would look something like the picture below, but obviously stuffed with candy, not paper (I was just seeing how it would look), and would have a little tag with interlocking hearts and our names or some kind of message. I'm thinking of using hershey's kisses and hugs (cuz hey, it's a wedding!) and m&ms in the colors of our flowers.

Tonight I was discussing it with my mom, and my dad started asking why we weren't doing something 'classier' and seemed to really dislike the candy idea. Mom and I explained that we wanted something simple that people would actually take/eat, but he still really was against it. I really don't get why... am I wrong? Is this not fancy enough for a formal wedding? I mean, honestly, the feeling of my wedding is more about being colorful and fun than being 'classy' even though it is a formal wedding...

anyway, sorry, that was long, but it made me second guess myself, and now I'm nervous. thanks!

Why not used a cute box to put the candy and used ribon around the box?. In my opinion it will look better in a box. Sorry but that's what I think.

the issue wasn't the wrapping, it was the candy itself.

I'll take a look at the boxes, but, like I said, he had problems with giving out candy - he didn't even see how I was planning on wrapping it until later.

thanks for the link!

What about chocolate truffles instead so that its still edible but looks more substantial? We ordered ours from Truffle Trolley . They have really great prices and they are yummy!

I think candy is absolutely fine, I wanted it, but my mother insisted not to because she thought it would melt in August...whatever, she won, of course.

truffles are definitely an option... my mom and I are going to check out a few candy stores tomorrow and see what's around (and maybe taste a few... hmmmm....). I like the m&m thing because it's really colorful and fun, which sort of fits with the rest of the wedding, and the kisses and hugs because I just think it's cute... but I agree that truffles might be seen as more elegant or substantial. We'll have to see what we find tomorrow, and how expensive it all is!
