Are these prices reasonable?

Are these prices reasonable?

HI Ladies,

Once again, I'm clueless.
What is an average price for a photojournalist that is taking 8 hours of photos at your wedding?
If I were charged $3500 for 8 hours, would this be reasonable, or on the low or high end? Note, this price does not include a videographer nor album. The album would be seperate cost. I would get to keep my negatives for free though

Also, what is the price range on albums? I'm sure it varies, but range?

THANKS SO SO MUCH!

it seems high if it doesn't include an album. a lot of brides on LIW are using 12th Night for photo - for a photographer for 9 hours it's $1050, and you keep all the negatives. It's on their website. I met with them, but went with Duet, since I'm also getting video.

The one I want is $3900 and it includes two photographers, one doing photojornalistic and the other traditional. A lighting assistant, three wedding albums (B+G, Parents,in-laws). A wall photo for bride and groom, and thank you cards. Oh and all the proffs. So yes$3500 is alot.

it totally depends on the reputation of the photographer....Some that have been around for 10 years and have a flawless reputation could get away with charging this much. It's a bit high for the average price range around here, but that does not mean you are getting ripped off.

This is definetly on the high end. You are using a very expensive photographer. Does the quality of the work match his/her prices? If so and you can afford it, then use them. Ar e you getting one photographer or two? How many proofs?

There is really no way to answer this question. There are high end photographers that charge $10K or more a day for weddings so $3900 would be a major bargain. There are other photographers that call themselves photojournalists and aren't very good so $3900 would be way too much. It all depends on the skill of the photographer and how in demand they are.

Seems high, Unless it's a VERY good photographer.

Re: Are these prices reasonable?

I think it's reasonable. Most talented and experienced photographers charge just about that and more. My poor friend who got married in Oct. said she didn't want to pay that much, found someone who was pretty inexpensive, his work was 'nice', nothing spectacular. She now cries almost every day because she does not have 1 single portrait of her and her husband, the guy was a total idiot. We come to find out that he hasn't been doing this for too long and doesn't have the greatest references either. Just do your research and you'll be fine!
Good luck!

Hi, I am getting a photojournalist with no time limit, minimum of 1000 proofs, all the negatives are mine, all the proofs with be 4x6 with a white border and no albums for a thousand less than that, 2500.

Is this a seperate photographer in additon to one that will provide your albums?

Re: Are these prices reasonable?

Seems kinda high - I would keep looking. Have you looked at other photographers to compare their work and pricing? 12th night seems very popular on the boards and of course, I loved and booked Silverfox. FM me if you would like their pricing.

Does this include 2 photographers or 1? For 2 photographers, $3500 is actually on the higher side of average. I have been looking into photographers a lot and they seem to be in 3 ranges. Low - less than 2500 and they usually include very little, not many albums, etc. Medium - 2500-4000 - typically they include many things but the photography seems the same in every album. I was not impressed by the creativity of people in this range. Then there are the $4000+ and these seem to not be similar at all. Some come with huge packages of stuff, others just with the proofs and negatives.

Also, the range I have gotten on albums are from 600-1500 for bride/groom album and about $300-600 for parent albums.

I am getting two photographers, one for 10 hours and one for 6 hours and am only paying $2125 for BOTH. Both are photojournalists, will give me all prints and proofs and negatives. Your quote does seem high, but there are definitely more expensive photogs out there.
