Just wondering if there are any others out there. FH was married young and it ended in a very bitter divorce. There have been times when I questioned my sanity getting involved in this situation (he has a 5 yo son with a not so nice ex wife) but at the end of the day I realize I'm much happier with him than without him. Just wondering how others deal with what can be a very stressful situation.

Isn't it always about money?? I'm waiting for the day she says something how we're planning a wedding, why can't she have more money. Wait till she sees I got a new car! I told my FSIL and MOH that right now her one job is to keep the other one off my back. LOL.
I do wish it were normal though. Maybe it's just me. I feel like after this long we should have a somewhat civil relationship, but what can I do? Maybe one day she'll get married, and leave us alone
Yes, it is always about money. It's never enough. NYS is ridiculous....we have him 50% of the time but because she refuses to get anything more than a part-time job, FH has to fork over a LOT of money.....more than anyone I have ever met. It's draining financially and emotionally. If we were guaranteed that all that money went to the son, we'd be fine. But we know it doesn't....not at all. If it did, why would she need money at 3am when she doesn't even have him?
So glad I'm not alone in this. If I think FH is wrong in things, I call him on it. I wouldn't be with someone that didn't take care of his responsibilities. I just feel that a lot of father's take a lot of flack when they are really good people.
def!!! if she's having a bad day or needs his money to apparently support the kids (yea right shes out barhopping and dining out) she likes to tell him he's a bad father and hes so far from it, he puts them in front of everything

YES!! I agree with everything you just said 110%! Do you know how many times she's threatened to take him to court for more money?? He says go ahead, there's nothing there for you to take! Meanwhile he buys his daughter new wardrobes at least twice a year, pays for just about everything, gives her an allowance...I'd like to know what her share of child support is going towards if clothes, school and spending money are all taken care of???

OMG were our FHs married to the same woman? She's constantly calling him a bad father or making snide remarks because we put him in Old Navy instead of Ralph Lauren....he's 5, he grows out of stuff in 6 months. We're not dropping $40 on a tshirt. We pay for clothes, school, medical.....pretty much everything. She has some clothes of her own, she doesn't have rent cause she lives with her parents......you can't tell me FH didn't buy her 10 rounds at the bar the other night. When it's her weekends, we know that her parents watch him a lot of the time while she's out with this one and that one (FHs son tells us this). When we have him, we center our entire weekend around him. We don't spend $40 on a tshirt because we'd rather buy him a year pass at Atlantis or take him to Hershey Park.
It's just frustrating because I get so angry sometimes and I can't take it out on the person who deserves it. Sometimes I get nasty with FH but I don't mean to. I know he tries his best to make the best of a really bad situation.
