Are you buying a gift for your readers?

Original post by micmar

I have two readers, one from Florida who will not be making the rehearsal dinner, but the other is FH's sister who I think we should get something for. I decided not to get something for my friend from FL since I will not see her until the wedding day & in the midst of the day, I don't think she'll be wondering where her gift is!! I'm just concerned about his sister. What are you ladies doing?

We got photoframes with their picture in it if them doing the reading, and then the reading on nice paper (it looks like antique parchment) on the other side of the frame. It was very inexpensive & since we did it after the wedding the cost did not hurt us too bad. I think it came to a total of $25 for both, plus the cost at Walgreens to enlarge the pic.

I plan to get gifts for the readers. They will not be big and will be significantly less expensive than the bridal party gifts. I personally feel FH and I should get all those we asked to participate in the wedding a TY gift. Do what you feel appropriate -- but IMHO, I would particularly do it in your case if it is FH's sister. Men aren't always as sensitive as women -- even though he thinks it isn't necessary, I think you are right on that she might be bummed by it (esp since she is a sibling). There are tons of inexpensive items you could get. If you do that w/ a nice card thankign her for being part of the wedding, I think she will be happy and you won't have to worry about it!

We got gifts because they were close family members and we wanted to express our appreciation. We got them each a book and a $25 gift card.

I am getting the readers (both close friends of mine) a gift and a cosage. We are considering them 'in the wedding' since they are both close to us and would have been bridesmaids had the wedding been bigger.

We got our readers $50. gift certificates to their favorite restaurants. I figured that would cover a nice lunch.
