Brads parents have nicknames and liked to be called 'Drink' and 'MaDrink' (dont ask lol.) I will probably just stick with that...

yea this is a weird one. Its so hard to decided unless they tell you. I know my dad calls my moms mother mom n vis versa but my fh dad calls his wife mother by her first name so i dont know what to call them.. I might just have the FH ask them when im not around ... hehe

i don't think i'd feel comfortable doing this, especially because FH isn't really that close with his dad. come to think of it, i don't think i've ever really addressed them by their first names either.

oy, im awkward

I don't know what I call them now. I try to avoid it. It feels awkward.

Im not, Im close with his mom but, I have a mom and had a dad. I call them by their first names and that is it.

Well they have already started referring to themselves as Mom & Dad...
for example, this happened yesterday morning when I stopped over their house. I was talking to FDIL and he said, ' On Tuesday, Mom & I walked at JOnes Beach for 2 hours.' Then I was actually in a situation where I was stuck and didnt knwo what to refer to my FMIL as.. and I just went with it for the first time and said, ' where is mom now?'

Its funny though because we usally refer to each other as MIL, DIL , or DIL... Mom in law, Dad in Law, & Daughter in law...

Its cute, but they will never be my mommy & daddy

I'm not sure yet....I love my Future in-laws but I don't know if I will feel uncomfortable calling them mom and dad

it depends... if they ask me to i will, i don't think i will just come out and say it. my FMIL has said things like, 'i have 2 daughters now!!!' and 'i'm not losing my son, i'm gaining a daughter!' and i've always called them by their first names... i guess i'll have to see!

I call them by their first names for now. Maybe after we get marrried I will call them Mother and Father or something else, but definitely not what I call my parents (Ma and Ba)

Yes only because in Nigerian tradition, its Madatory. So I call them Mummy (the say it like that) and Daddy. It does not feel weird.

This is an excellent poll. Thanks for posting!

I wish there were an alternate endearing name to call my parents-in-law. I understand that we are all becoming a family--and I'm really excited about that--but it's a difficult transition to call my in-laws by the same titles as my parents.

I know it would make my FMIL so happy if I called her mom (she's asked me to), but like I said, it will be strange at first. I do love her, but it will definitely take some getting used to.

FMIL has already told me she would like it but said it was up to me and FFIL deosnt really care(hes a very laidback guy). It might take a little time to get used to it though

i call fmil by her first name i don't think i will ever call her mom.

my daughter calls her grandma(last name) or mrs. (last name)
FH kinda pushes her to call her grandma but i don't really mind either way.

I probably will, but it is weird because my mom has passed away and I think it will be weird calling someone else mom, but I probably will.
