are you going to call you new in laws mom and dad? i know my in laws-to-be and they feel like its a respectful to call them mom and dad ... actually my parents feel the same way... i dont want to hurt their feelings ... it just feels weird! but if it makes them happy I prob will!

i def usually call my FMIL mom or mama riggio lol
whatever you call them.. it should be on your feelings.. to be honest i dont think any of our parents care.. we have very laid back families and like i said in another thread we have been together for 8 years so at this point its a much more comfortable relationship

FFIL passed in '06...I have a few names for FMIL, but I would think first name would suffice, I have a mom and dad already and they would be kind of hurt if I called someone else mom and dad....

I am going to continue to call my FMIL by her first name. I don't think it's necessary to call them mom and dad, especially if you don't feel comfortable doing it!

nope. i think its weird because i have my own parents that i call mom and dad still, sometimes even mommy and daddy at the age of 25 lol...i would feel weird calling them that

Call them Mr. & Mrs since we've started dated (7 years ago). But when they gave me a bday card last month they sign it 'mom & dad' so I think they would be okay with me calling them mom & dad. I don't know when I will be ready!

When FSIL married into the family she started to call them FIL and MIL....they love being called that... I think I am going to adopt that too...

haha thats what my fh does... he tells me that he just starts talking and hopes they hear him !! fh's mom passed away and i'm not very close to his father so i don't really call him anything either !

yea i understand i mean whatever works for you ladies! i just thought it would be interested to see what people think!!! obviously no one will ever replace you real mom and dad but sometimes i think even tho its kind of weird its nice to call them mom and dad ... i feel like it really shows two families becoming one but again it depends how you feel! everyone is different!!!

I can't do this- I feel so weird. I mean, when I write cards to my FIL's I always put Mom and Dad. I can't ever say it though.
