I could see myself eventually saying it when we have kids but ffil is remarried so I dont think I would call his wife mom since she's not fh's mom.

I was thinking of calling FMIL momma Franca, I dunno yet. My parents told FH to call them by their first names...

nope. they asked me to call them by their first names when FH and I started dating, so I will stick with that

I call them Mr. and Mrs. G still. They never told me other wise yet I do think it's formal. My parents said FH doesn't have to call them mom and dad they can just call them by their first names

see right now we use first names ... all around! i guess i really dont mind i just think it will be weird at first. my dad calls my mom's mom ... Mom and FH's mom calls his dad's mom Mom so i guess its really not too weird i mean i have grown up with it being like that forever. i guess thats why its not too weird for me. and if it really makes them happy because they feel its respectful than im fine with it.

I always thought I would want to call them mom and dad because everyone in my family is big on that whole thing, but in reality I probably won't...I think I'm going to stick to the first names, unless they say something about it or something.

I doubt it...I feel weird about it. I have two step parents and I call them by their first names so I would feel weird calling FILs mom and dad..

probably not..FH will call my mom mom, but i doubt his parents will be normal enough to tell me to call them mom and dad....but when we have kids then they will become grandma and grandpa...or granny and poppy or grams and poppa...whatever

Unfortunately my in-laws and I do not get along.

I barely call my own parents 'mom' and 'dad'. I've gotten so used to calling my dad by his first name when I was a teenager (we went to alot of father-daughter things and 50 ppl would turn around when I said 'dad').

I've been calling his parents by their first names since we met 5 years ago - I think it would be weird to switch.

But my parents called their parents 'grandma' and 'grandpa' so we would learn their names as kids. So maybe when we have kids we'll start calling them 'nanna' and 'poppa' or something.
