We have not finalized this. Ok my first name and my last name go great together. Not so much with his last name. I actually laughed one time when someone asked if I was Mrs. _
On top of that it is hard for people to pronounce.
We have come up with a ton of different other names, like DeWookie, which is everyones favorite. But I don't know about family. Then there is hyphenating.
What are you doing?

Re: Are you changing your name
I've taken his name and while I'm sad that mine is gone I know in the long run it's for the best since we plan on having kids.
It's a very tough decision though.

Re: Are you changing your name
I am keeping my last name, i feel like i would be loosing my identity if i changed my name. If it means that much to him i will - it.

Re: Are you changing your name
I am legally hyphenating.. BUT-- I will never use the two names together..
This way- I can keep my maiden name when I want to and use my married when I want to- and for legal purposes and kids-- I will have their last name too

I am taking his name. I have a hyphentated last name (my mom kepts hers) and feel it would get too complicated. I will miss my maiden name!

Re: Are you changing your name
we're making a new name - made up of both our last names
in NY state it is very simple- what ever is put on the marriage license becomes your new last name for both people
this our agreement - we both change or neither changes

Re: Are you changing your name
After some reluctance, I'm taking his. I have a long italian name and he has an even longer italian name, so it would just be to much to hyphenate. Plus, like you've all said it's much easier when the kids come along.

Re: Are you changing your name
I am changing mine, but I am going to have to have people call me Kate, or Kathryn, instead of Katie, because his last name kinda rhymes with Katie!!! it sounds like I am a 5 year old girl!!
