I'm using a money bag so if I don't feel like carrying it I can just leave it with someone.
BTW - I got a really pretty hand made one on eBay for $15

I like the idea of walking around and greeting every guest, so I might not do the mailbox/birdcage thing. I'm not really sure what we are going to do...

I have the cake box from Lillian Vernon. I having one of those types of holders because unfortunately I've heard horror stories about the money bag 'walking'away during the reception. A birdcage, cakebox, mailbox is much harder to slip out the door with.
I got the cake box too, when it was on sale for $15 or $19. It's very pretty, but I don't know if all size envelopes will fit?

Where do you get the cake boxes? I saw them in Patchogue Floral but they were so big....is there anything smaller.

I just ripped it off some website. They are asking $495.99 for it. Its safe to say for that price, I'll be renting mine!!

Thanks to Jenny2Penny I have a really LARGE wooden box for that. It’s a gorgeous wooden box that someone apparently sawed a slit on top for envelopes. The hole is sanded down and I think Jim wants to either leave it in it’s natural color (Dark wood) to match the Hall or to cover it in Chinese Red Envelopes.

OOOOO thanks I think I will do something like that! It sounds like something that can be re-used for something later in life. I like the wedding cakes but what do you do with it after besides give it to another bride?

we had a birdcage that was shaped like a church that we decorated. i wasn't crazy about the idea of going around to say hello to everyone and collect cards from them. i walked around and said hello to them...not to collect the cards, but to say hello. They were then able to put the cards in the birdcage on their own, at the start of the party and not have to worry about them for the rest of the reception.
