So we are all human and i think it would be a lie to say we are never jealous of anyone. Do you get jealous when you see other girls rings that are bigger than yours?
If you FH offered you to get an upgrade would you???
As for me, it may sound shallow but I would upgrade all the way... not that I don't love my ring.... but who doesn't want bigger?

I also believe it is the setting, not the stone that makes the ring. Awhile back a thread was started where girls posted other LIW girls rings that they love and most of the rings that made it on there were under 2 carats, and a few under 1, but the settings were amazing.
Yes i was more concerned with the setting than the stone, infact that was my ONLY concern. And thats the only suggestions i gave him, i showed him a setting i liked. Hmmm interesting but so true

I'm not jealous of other girls rings either, but I would upgrade if he offered to do it....it would still have the same meaning behind it...but I never really compared my ring to other girls rings, I just go by my own personal preference for bigger jewelry (earrings, bracelets,everything)....but I'm definitely satisfied with my ring the way it is...FH did an excellent job picking it

SOOOO true...when fh asked me what type of ring i want i wouldn't give him any ideas, i told him i wanted it to be something he personally picked out and thats it. Of course that didn't help him so after a while of him going crazy, i just told him 2 things I DONT want and the rest is fine lol.
I wish I could say the same, I def told FH what I did not want. But years ago I showed him a pic of it lol. Who would have thought he would remember

I completely agree! And I love your last line especially...a lot of times, people attach too much emotion to material things...I don't see anything wrong with having the ring upgraded, it's a material thing...it's not like you're tarnishing your love by having it upgraded..

thank you...he did have no idea for a while lol...what he was looking at was COMPLETELY different than what he got, until i sent him a pic of my setting. SO i guess i did help, i didnt expect him to get the exact one though, just to give him a general idea. I wanted simple clean lines.

omg that episode gave me NIGHTMARES! I was so scared that would happen to me. In a way it DID happen - i always wanted a solitaire with NOTHING on the side, but hte ring he got me has some diamonds on the side. . . but it was still very 'me' and i love it!
I wouldnt change my ring bc FH picked it out all by himself

Awww, that 's great. One of my good friends whose getting married on 7/7/07 proposed to her FH. They are very happy together.

Not at all..I love my ring, my hunny worked very hard to buy me this beauty :)
My only request was that the setting be antique like, so when I saw he was going insane over it we went and he bought me the Tacori setting I wanted and then had his jeweler set the stone, my ring totals 3 carats setting and all, and it's a clear beautiful quality :)

I have a tacori setting too. FH got my ring from bailey banks and biddle which is overpriced! The have a program where you can upgrade and get the credit that you paid towards your oringal ring and put it towards to new ring...heres the trick the new ring has to be atleast double what the orignal ring was. I would consider it down the line, after we had a house and some savings.

i agree with all of you guys ... i think a ring is a ring and it doesnt mean anything ... i am on my 3rd ring from thats right my 3rd ... long sotry short the one he proposed with was his great grandmothers and it got lost (he lost it) so he got me a new one ... well there was something wrong with the new one so when we went back he saw another one he liked more so he got me that one instead!!! i love the one i have now but if he was like lets upgrade to a bigger diamond i so would ... and i dont necessarily get jealous jealous of other girls rings ... but some you cant help be like omg i am jealous i would love that ring ... like mizzdimple ... your ring is huge and pretty and i would not mind having that on my finger

omg im sittin here reading this and u call me out lol...um its not fun! seriously! When I saw it was idnt even realize how big it was and then I was like...ummm people are going to think im materialistic...i actually take it out of birds eye view..its a bit embarassing is this wrong to feel this way?
