Are you kidding me?! (VENT!)

I went to a certain copy company yesterday to get my direction and accomodation cards printed. I gave them my disk with the file and also gave them the file with the font that I chose in case they didn't have it. My instruction sheet, which THEY wrote up, clearly said 'load font before printing.' Did they load the font? No, of course not.

So, FH goes to pick up the cards today and they're all in a plain font with the page breaks all screwed up. And they want us to pay the full price because we declined the proof! Why would we have needed to see the proof when all they needed to do was follow the instructions on their own order sheet??!! So, because they didn't follow the instructions they were SPECIFICALLY given, it's OUR fault? What's the point of the order form? Are they just 'suggestions'? Grrrr....

FH got all heated with them and they're going to run it correctly for us at 1/2 price BUT we still have to pay the full price for the first set! What a joke! I'm so frustrated because, of course, all of this is happening when I'm out of the freakin' country and can't do anything about it. Sorry, you all know I'm usually not a vent-er, but I'm just so annoyed.

And poor FH is sitting there right now at midnight waiting for them to do it the right way! Of course, I stayed up til 5am the other night tying ribbons on my invites, so I guess we're even

Yea, why give them more money because they couldn't follow their OWN instructions?!

Thanks FH just paid them because he said that the fact that we declined the proof would probably be binding in court (he's a lawyer). I told him that the fact that their order sheet is a contract for services and they failed to fulfill an explicit term of that contract would probably be considered material breach (I'm a lawyer too ). But he didn't call me til he'd already paid them and got them to do the 2nd set at 1/2 price. I guess something is better than nothing, but it's frustrating because I'm not there to do anything about it.

Did he pay with a credit card? If so I would call up the company and put a claim i against the charges. You will get a temporary credit, and then the credit card will duke it out with the copying co. for you. I did it with some p-o-s yarmulkes that I received when the company was giving me a hard time refunding my money.
