Are you planning on telling anyone how much $$$ you made at your wedding?

People keep on asking me this and i don't want to tell them so I say 'we did well' but his immediate fam keeps pressing me. What do you tell people when they ask. Also, a lot of people ask me if we had a lot of sex on my hm.... uhm... how do I respond to this? I've just been saying, ''I read a lot' and then they assume no. I don't like to talk about sex w/ my DH's fam... so... how do I answer this crap?

Just say people were very generous to us. As for the sex thing, say thats a private matter and you are not discussing that with them.

Uhm I dont know what kind of people you're around but I would just tell them that these things are very private and that you would appreciate if they did not ask you such questions.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!! i don't care who asks, its no ones business. my parents would never even think to ask. my fil's however, think that they can ask who gave us what, they did for our e-party. 'just so i know' for gifts is what fmil asked us.

i would never ask anybody what they got and i can't imagine that anyone would ask me.

ok, i just read the whole post and as far as the sex goes, i would not even respond. make the person who asked feel as uncomfortable as possible. thats so rude

Why would someone ask those questions? I will never understand the gall of some people. I would not answer them at all because it's no one's business. I'm sure you didn't get married to 'make money' so for people to treat it like you made a business deal is ridiculous.

Beyond telling whoever is asking that it is none of their business, I think in response to the first question - how much did you make - my answer would be - 'we didn't get married to make money, we got married because we love one another and want to spend the rest of our lives together'

In response to the sex question - I would either try to make the person asking the question uncomfortable, or give them a wise arse response like - 'as hard as we tried we couldn't make it through the entire Kama Sutra, page 111 just had us hooked!'

asking someone how much money they made is tackier than tacky. your answer sounds like a good response.

It is none of anyone's business how much you made in total OR how much any individual guest, couple or family gave!

I do not think it is anyone's business how much people gave you for your wedding, and it is especially nobody business what you and DH did privately on your HM!! I would tell people that you and DH are very happy with everything you received from your wedding; and I would tell people that you and DH had a very good time on your HM.

People really can be rude. I have had a lot of people ask me how much money we made. My standard answer is 'People were very generous and we're fortunate to have wonderful family & friends.' It's no one's business how much money you were given.

Hear your pain about the gift question. My MIL kept pestering us, including the day after the wedding, as to who gave what. First thing she asked us too when we got back from our honeymoon.

We were by her the day after we returned from our HM and she directed the question directly to me, b/c she ws tired of hearing John's reply. . . 'Would you have problem providing me with a list of my family as to the amount they gave you for your wedding gift?' I was appalled. There was a little back and forth, but pretty much I told her that we don't have a list and that's that. She gave some resistance, but in the end she dropped it b/c she wasn't getting the answer she wanted.

I don't know why people feel these questions are acceptable. Luckily, no one asked us the sex question, but my reply to that would be that we don't feel that that is an appropriaet topic to discussing since it's a private matter.

well put Hollie,a ns as for the sex part. I would just ignore b/c you have got to be kidding me if you think I'm going into detail about what my husband and I did, on our honeymoon

I am shocked that anyone thinks its okay to ask either of these questions. I think that is way too personal. I don't discuss money or my sex life. What nerve!!
