i dont really bake and think a handheld mixer is good enough for us. Am I the only one who feels this way? I feel like a K A mixer is like 'the' registry item.

I didn't for 2 reasons
1 - I had a very small shower and knew that only a handful of people would spend a lot of money on me (and there were other things I wanted more than a mixer)
2 - I am not that much of a baker, and live in an apt. I can just use my hand mixer.

1. everyone i know who has one has used it once in 5 years 2. they are humongous. i would rather other appliances 3. i would rather have a handmixer, which i have used my whole life.

Personally for me it's a waste of $. I'd rather get something else for $300!! I did register for a hand mixer!! I've lived on my own for a few years now & managed without either so i'm sure it will be fine!! lol

I registered for it and I've already received it back in the fall. I LOVE IT! you can do so much with it. Making large batches of cookies for Christmas was so much easier!!

Yes..i registered for one and my mom bought it for me (amongst other things...she's crazy!!) We use them a lot for some family dishes so I felt I'd use it!

FH loves them and last year my sis and I went to a cooking class at Wm Sonoma and learned to make ice cream! SO I added the special ice cream bowl to it too!

My kitchen aid mixer is a work of art. I have it displayed proudly on my counter. It is the Mona Lisa of all kitchen appliances. Sometimes I take photos of myself next to it just b/c I love it so much.

To be honest, I wished I had one when I was baking Christmas cookies in December and FH wants it for his pasta making and possibly making breads??
I doubt anyone will get it for us and we have no room as of now to store it even, but yet for some reason, I just want to have it. It's such a waste of money, my friends say it just takes up tons of space and they've all yet to use it. I dunno.

i was just struggling with this issue yesterday at BBB!! I dont really bake or anything but i feel like i will regret not getting one because the mixer i have is kinda crappy...i dunno...I think im just going to leave it on there. I dont think anyone will even get it for me ne way

My FH bought me one a little over a year ago, after mine died while baking Christmas goodies. I had one for years before that also. I am a big baker, so I use mine all the time. But it is great for making cakes, brownies, fresh whipped cream, and especially cookies. There are endless uses for them. You will want one when you have kids, unless you don't plan on making them special cakes for their birthday, etc. By then, you probably won't have the money to spend on it, so you might as well get it know. It is much easier than the hand held. I don't think I can go back to that. It is also great for mashed potatoes, etc.

I registered for one. my parents have one and i use it all the time. I bake and cook constantly and it comes in handy.

Yup, I love to bake things whenever I get the chance so i'm going to register for it..but if you're not really into baking, I'd suggest that you just go with the handheld mixer like you said..
