are you taking time off work before the wedding day? how long was/is your leave?

i was planning on taking a week off before the wedding so i could do last-minute stuff and relax as well but my married friends told me i'll be better off working until a day or 2 days before the wedding! based from their experience, they told me that if i take a week off, my mind might start to wander and change things since i'm not working.

now i'm not so sure if i should still do the 1 week off before the day. i'm thinking of taking the 2 days off instead?

for those who got married, how many days did you take off from work?
and for those who are waiting for the day, how many days are you planning to take?

Christmas is the week before my wedding so thank the LORD my office is closed for winter break.

I am SO glad I took off the week of the wedding! I got married on a Friday, and I was off from the Saturday before on. From my experience, and the experience of my closest friends, we were all SO glad we took the week of off!! We all had a ton of stuff to do, and needed the time. I know I worked SO many hours up until that week, so I really needed those full days to get a lot of appointments and things done. I would say have at the very least 3 full days off before the wedding. As far as the honeymoon, we had an 11 day honeymoon, and a few days after that as well. In total I was off work for 22 days I think! DH took the same as me. It was the freaking greatest time ever! We both work a lot, so we felt so blessed to have allll that time together. He WANTED to be off with me the week of! On the Monday we went to Six Flags with our best friend/read who was in from Argentina. It was SO hot and sunny and I got awesome color! It was a great time. You should do what you think is right. Some people don't need all that time. Good luck with your decision!

I took the week off before the wedding, I had a million and one things to do and then towards the end of the week I got to unwind a little before the wedding.

My last day of work was Oct 30th and my first day back is TODAY Dec 2nd.

I got married on Nov 6th. So I took off the week of the wedding and then 3 weeks after. We went on a very long HM.

I was THRILLED I took off the week of the wedding. It gives you time to complete everything and if you do complete it then you can at least relax the day before the wedding. I HIGHLY recommend taking off the week of the wedding if you can. It was AWESOME for me!! I got soooo much done!!!! If I had to work... I would not have finished everything I needed to do.

I planned the wedding so it worked with my teacher summer vacation:)
Last day of school: June 3 (I teach in FL)
Wedding: June 18th
Back to school: Aug 15th

I'm taking off the thursday and friday before the wedding. I'm also taking 2 full weeks and 1 day after the wedding for our HM.

So that's a total of 13 work days.

I wouldn't even consider taking off a whole week before the wedding. I'd rather save that time for vacations.

Luckily i work at a school too so I finish June 25th and our wedding is July 15th so I will have time to relax and get all my last minute stuff done. My family is coming into town on the 10th so they will be able to help me. I do have to take time from my 2nd job but we'll see what happens....

I wish I could. You gals all seem to have very understanding employers. I just got a new job as a school psychologist, and will not be tenured at the time of the wedding, so no days off for me, and I probably have to wait until the summer for the honeymoon

I took off 3 days before the wedding and I was so happy that I did!! There was so much running around and last minute stuff to do that I don't think I could have gotten it all done without it!

Ill be taking abt a 4 total. My Bday is Aug 14, the wedding is the 21, Part of the HM will be a cruise Aug 21-28 and we havent decided on the second part as yet...

I took off 3 full days and left at 3:00 the 4th day. My company doesn't have set sick/personal/vacation time so I was able to do this. I am going right back to work on Monday though, so that kinda stinks, but then in a week and a half I'm taking more time off for the minimoon. I needed that much time off because I had all my final appointments and payments and drop-offs due this week, plus I'm still in the process of moving so need some more time for that too.

My wedding is on a Sunday, so I will prob work mon and tues the week before then have off for 4 or 5 days before the wedding. Then I'm taking off 3-4 more weeks after the wedding

Taking off 2 weeks before my wedding and 2 weeks after---but I'm self employed so that's why I'm able to do that :)

my wedding is on a Saturday. I'm going to work 1/2 day Wednesday, take off Thursday & Friday, and then the Monday after. We aren't going on on HM right away.

I took a week off before the wedding. It was awesome because I relaxed most of the time. I did wedding related errands at my own pace and was never once rushed.

Personally I think taking off a week before is a bit extreme. I got married on the Monday of a 3-day weekend and I didn't take any time off beforehand. I did things Friday night and Saturday. My late Saturday afternoon basically everything was done. Sunday was nails and RD and relaxing. If you give yourself too much time to sit around you'll just drive yourself nuts. Take time off AFTER the wedding/honeymoon to change your name, unpack, do laundry and write thank you notes.

I took the week off before the wedding I figure i will have alot of last minute things to do...and I dont want to be in work saying oh I should have taken off I have this to do and that to do.

for our Friday, April 23 wedding, I will be taking off Thursday only. I will go crazy if I am home any longer then that. I know I will have a lot of stuff to do but I will stick to a schedule & get it all done.

as for after the wedding I will be off 2 weeks. I will return to on Friday, May 7.
