ASIAN AMERICAN BRIDES

I just thought that I would like to get some chatting on the site on Asian American Brides and wedding ideas. Not sure if there are many out there, but hey - let me know how you are incorporating your ethnic background into your wedding day. I'm Korean American adopted by Italians and getting married to a Hispanic hottie!! Ha ha, I'm not joking, for real!!

Well.. Im not asian.. but im a Hispanic Hottie married to a Chinese Chunk of love..

We got married in City Hall, but the wedding is next year.

The theme is asian.. Colors are Red / Gold. Chopsticks are going to be our favors and we just need to find a guest book (I want gold with the symbol for wedding in written in chinese in red). Our invitations we are buying in Chinatown will be red with gold and have that symbol on the middle with the words 'wedding invitation' underneath. Inside they are written in both English & Chinese.

Girls will wear Red (I mean RED) with Gold shawls. I am NOT changing gowns only cause Jim doesnt want to bother me with it??? Go figure.

We are also thinking of using his little sister (who is a BM) to translate the ceremony into Cantonese for the Aisan attendance. Most know English, but his Grandmother doesn't besides, I thought it would lend a nice touch.

FM if you wanna swap Ideas..

Wow, thats the opposite twist, cool!! It sounds like you will have a really interesting wedding. I was also thinking of having a little bit of an Asian-Korean theme to our wedding, possibly having chopsticks for favors, I was going to take a look down in Chinatown to get some ideas. But I'm thinking of using a bilingual officiant/reverand to have the ceremony in English and Spanish for my fiancee's mother and family. However it works it will be interesting.......

yeah.. I was wondering to have it in Spanish too... but ALL of my 'people' speak english fluently.

Our Best Man is Indian
Our Maid of Honor is Black
My BM's are Asian and Hispanic
My GM are also Asian & Hispanic
Our Ring bearer (if he comes) is Irish/Hispanic
Our Flower Girl (if she comes) is Canadian/Indian

We have the mixy matchy wedding of the century! LOL

Hi.

FH and I are Filipinos. We will be incorporating a lot Filipino wedding traditions in the ceremony. We will be having the cord and veil ceremony and the offering of the silver coins with a full Catholic mass. I bet its gonna be 1 hr and 15 minutes !

There will be many witnesses or sponsors at the wedding ceremony, who will have various responsibilities. The first witnesses pin the bride's veil to the groom's shoulder to symbolize the couple being clothed as one.

Next, they hang a white cord around the our necks which represents the eternal bond between us. Then, two candles are lit on either side of a unity candle, I was thinking of giving this role to our moms cause we want them to light our way. Lastly, my FH will give me thirteen coins that have been blessed by the priest for a life of faithfulness and prosperity.

FH and I are chinese american. We're not having a lot of traditional items in our wedding, but we are having a tea ceremony. Also i'll be wearing a chinese red dress and probably incorporate the chinese double happiness word somewhere in the wedding. Otherwise it's mostly an americanized wedding.

Im trying to keep it asian influenced.. not really asian.. that's for his sister.

No tea ceremony
No Red Dress
Other than acessories nothing will be overly asian in theme.. I dont want to insult his family and encourage my own family.

My father LOVES All things asian. Ever since I was a little girl I was surrounded by asian things, history and little stories. WHO KNEW that I'd marry asian??????????

Seriously Im just a lil ol Texan gal who moved to New York a few years back. Never dated asian before in my life.. now look at me!

Dad was so happy, he wanted to have the priest in Asian Garb.. I had to talk him out of it. *sigh*

That is sooo great! You sound so happy and in love, I can hear it through the text! Thats awesome! I'm suprised that there arent many other asian brides or asian weddings going on?? I'm trying to find a traditional dance group to perform a Korean Fan dance at my reception. but not sure how to go about it.

I'm asian and married a jewish dude. We had a jewish ceremony so to not insult my side of the family, we also incorporated a chinese tea ceremony (without changing dresses).

Our colors were cashmere (goldish taupe) and red (of course!). The tables were named with animals from Chinese astrology (Year of Ox, etc. - SSDARE on the board helped me with those!) We gave lucky bambo pots as favors.

Have you thought about representing both your ethnicities during the cocktail hour; a pasta station (italian), spanish station (paella), and an asian station (stir fry, kim chee, etc.)?

Whatever you choose, it will be great!

Hey All,

Just wondering if any of you have looked into those Flushing/Chinatown packages that include gown rental, pics, limo etc... If so, what did you think of it? Which one did you look into?

I check this place in flushing. I don't remember the name but it is next to an asian bakery. They seem pretty good. I had a friend who used them and everything was fine. i just didn't like the photo album they have. They guarantee only 200 pix. If it goes over, they will charge extra.
