Ask your Men for me!

Ask your Men for me!

FH mentioned a while back that he would like a tool set. I have no clue where to start or what brand would be decent. For his birthday, I want to get him a little of everything. Could you please ask your guys for me if they were to receive a tool set what would they want included in it? TIA!!!!

There's already tool boxes with a lot of tools in it you can get at Lowes. Maybe you should get him something like that along with some other tools. Now does he want some power tools also or just hand tools? You may want to get him a Dewalt drill or something along with other stuff.

My DH is a contractor so he has a work room in our basement that's FULL of all his tools, electronic power tools, table saws, etc.

my dad thinks sears sells the best tools - i would buy a set already put together, unless there are any 'special needs'

Buy a set. They come in a case for storage...
Men LOVE power tools for some reason so I would recommend looking for something that would include a power drill or something (they are Very useful around the house).

Good luck!

Yeah if you don't have a basic homeowners tool set that would be where you want to start.... like these...

or

And then a power drill set if you want..

Re: Ask your Men for me!

I know this is such a typical 'girl' answer but FH wants a tool set as well and when we were in Lowes's it was the BLUE set. That's all I remember, it was the only blue one, he says thats the best brand. He's an engineer so I would take his word.

Edited b/c I found out its KOBALT, thats the name.

My FH and I are both tool nuts....me not as bad as he is but still I love them.

I would think about a power set. I got FH the Ryobi 18V kit. It is awesome and I think I use it more than he does. He still says it is the best Valentines day gift I ever got him. they are $159 at home depot.

And if you want to spend more $$$ then the Dewalt but Ryobi is great for around the house

Re: Ask your Men for me!

Sears carries the Craftsman line which is one of the best.

That's all my dad used in his years of construction work and why I've followed suit and am starting to outfit MY tool box with Craftsman tools. Most of mine are hand me downs from my dad.

A couple of power tools is also a great way to start - cordless drill with a bit set, cordless screwdriver. If he plans on cutting wood, then a nice skill saw or a reciprocating saw (Milwaukee brand Sawz All) would be good.

Keep em coming ladies!!

I am so foreign to this stuff. If I do this I want to make sure it will be quality stuff that he'll get a lot of use out of. We'd definitely be using this stuff for around the house.

Re: Ask your Men for me!

Theres so many different brands and kinds of stuff to choose from. Its overwhelming. Either way, I'm definitely going to go into a sears and home depot and I pray there is someone there who is going to be able to help me. I just want some info beforehand so I don't look totally clueless!

My boyfriend is a homebuilder, so he has lots of tools. The ones he loves the most are his Craftsman. I think he got the 283 piece set and it comes in a big case with drawers. He also has lots of power tools, and he said DeWalt are his favorite for those. HTH!
