we're doing ours at the cocktail hour actually but I think they normally start around when dinner is ready to be served right??

We did some during the CH...but because of getting there a bit into it cause of the boat arrival and wanting to eat some we didn't get all, then we did some during the pasta course, got halfway around and tried to finish later but don't think we did. We had a receiving line though after church so talked to everyone then.

Didn't do the rounds at the reception. We did it at the cocktail hr. Towards the end of the night poeple came up to us to give us envelopes, but we partied at our reception.

This is what we plan on doing. You are putting alot into planning. I want to be able to enjoy it.

Re: At what point during the reception...

We did ours while our guests ate. In reality, we just wanted to thank them all for coming and spent only a minute or 2 at each table. DH and I picked at some food but didn't really have an appetite. We were mostly concerned about missing dancing time! Our friends and cousins our age were up dancing with us the entire time so we didn't have to visit their tables, it was really just the 'older tables'. Most of our guests used that time as an opportunity to give us our envelopes so it all worked out for everyone! After it was all said and done, our guests really appreciated the fact that we came over to them. I can't tell you how many people commented on the fact that we did that! I guess most brides and grooms just spend time with thier friends that they don't think to visit with the older guests.
Oh and by the way, we had over 280 guests and spoke with every one of them!
