Atkins???

Re: Atkins???

Be careful with Atkins, my parents did it, my friend did it, my boss did it. The problem is that most people can't go forever without carbs and the MINUTE you add them back you gain the weight back and some (or at least most people do.) Also I heard its very unhealthy. Actually my masters comprehensive exam for film school involved doing pre-production for a documentary on Fad Diets. Atkins really had a lot of scary facts.

I think WW is really the best diet, if you can stick to it.

Re: Atkins???

I'm on the Atkins now. I started on Friday, and made it through the induction so far, except for two lapses (already)- but it was a no-carb chocolate candy, and some almonds.

Okay, two candies. But still under 1 carb, but you're not supposed to have it during induction.

Other than that, I'm going balls-to-the-wall carnivore right now. I feel like it's working. But today, at a christening party, they had heroes, and I took an italian and took the bread off. I held the bread up to my face and breathed in it's wonder and loveliness.

Then I went into the bathroom and cried by myself.

I've done it, and it works, but you have to really stick with it for the first two weeks. Good luck!! So meaty!

How did you do it as a way of life? The last time I did this, after 2 weeks I went carb crazyyyyy I ate everything in sight for a whole night lol!!!! I did manage to lose like 10 lbs and felt great.... but I was so sick of the meat. I just hope this time with a wedding and bikinis coming around, I can actually stick it through this time. How long did it take you to lose 35 lbs?

It's like anything else- you quit smoking and the first few weeks are hard but then it's easier. Same thing with giving up carbs. I used to love pasta, bagels, sugar but then a month passed and it was SO easy to continue. I varied up my food- seafood, salads, chicken, steak - stuff like that. There are a lot of healthy recipes for Atkins so you can change up what you eat so you don't get bored with it. I use Food Network as a source. I started my diet in May of 2005 and by October I was 35 lbs lighter. It was pretty quick and I did work out at the same time.

I still do this to this day but I do eat more carbs now. Carbs consist of whole grains only. Nothing white and NO sugar. If I crave sugar which is rare, I eat a banana or another fruit.

my dad did it 4 years ago and lost 100lbs and has mostly kept it off. He wasnt super anal about it though but was also very active playing softball and riding his bike.
