Got invited to a friend from HS's wedding and it's memorial day weekend @ the Atlantis Marine World out in Riverhead. I went on the website, but I was wondering if anyone had ever been there for an affair or in general.

I live right around the corner from the Aquarium. I considered having my wedding there. I went there last year and I saw a brochure for affairs there. They have a big room where the shark tank is and they decorate it with the tables and chairs and all that stuff and you have your reception with all the fish. I think its a great idea!!!

Re: Atlantis Marine World
I went to a Gala event there for my fiances company. It was pretty cool, all the tables are set up all around the aquarium, and you are free to visit all the exhibits. Only bad things, are that the dance floor is seperated from everything else, and that it is very HUMID in there dont even bother getting your hair done!!! My curls flopped in like 2 minutes, and everyones glasses were fogged up. Definitely a unique experience.

My worst fear is sharks and underwater animals of all kinds. But for those who love the sea I am sure it is a unique venue. For me, it would cause me more nightmares!

Re: Atlantis Marine World
Been there when it first open a few years ago. Very nice, small but nice. However, never been there for a gala event either wedding, birthday, etc. but can imagine it's nice having a marine atmosphere for your event.

I thought it sounded really fun and different--just what you would expect if you knew my friend!! hehe Does anyone know if they close the whole place for the affair? It would be cool to look around! Thanks for the tip about the hair! I'll definetely use my HOT TOOLS FLAT IRON much longer that day! haha

Re: Atlantis Marine World
I went to an event there this winter. It was alot of fun and very unique. The little kids LOVED the shows, and the tanks were really cool. But I wasn't crazy about the main room. Which IMO that is the most important thing. It is crecent shaped and you can't see from one end of the room to the other. So your guests would be very segregated, and it's hard to mingle. It's also pretty small. So I'm not sure how many people you are planning. I would say the rooms holds about 100 tops.

oh-it's not for my wedding-we were invited to my friend's wedding there on may 24th. it will be awesome to walk around-we've been wanting to go but it's expensive to get in--so i'm sure now we won't have to pay the admission fee! LOL stacey-thanks for the warning about the smell!!
