I was hoping to attend my cocktail hour but my MOH said that if we did then we couldn't make a big entrance to our reception. What do you think?? I still want to have the whole announced entrance into the reception.

Yes you can! We were at our CH and we still made our grand entrance for the reception!!

of course you can!! we were at our CH, and still had our entrance at the reception. IMO, the reception doesn't really start until you make your grand entrance. no offense to your MOH, but i really have no idea where she got that from.

Of course you can.
I will be attending my cocktail hour as well. What I plan do is stay for the first 30-45 minutes, then disappear until it's time to make my grand entrance.
I love my cocktail hour room, and although my RH sets up a cocktail hour in our bridal suite, I still want to be a part of mine.
Also, just think of it this way..most of the people see you at the ceremony anyway, so they can see you @ the cocktail hour.

I think you can but I have chosen not to b/c I do not want to see FH before the ceremony so Thomas Paul said we have to do our pics during the cocktail hour....since we are having ceremony and recption at the same place.

definately I would have the grand entrance - We are planning on showing up early prior to the ceremony for Pix - which was previously unheard of - and we are attending CH and having the entrance - your the bride - its ur day and you can do what you want

of course you can... i would just disappear 15 minutes before the end of the cocktail hour and then come into the reception with my grand entry

we went to our CH sowe could talk and taste food
and when we walked in people clapped but we didnt get introduced as hubs and wifey
so it didntake away from anything
make sure you go..its an hour you will regret missing..I PROMISE!!

I see it in another way....but of course if you want to do both, then by all means...it's your wedding!!! My thoughts are this: you already revealed yourselves for the 1st time as a married couple at the cocktail hour. I tend to think it's a bit stagey, and insincere to be announced 'for the first time as man and wife' at the reception, if you already enjoyed your cocktail hour with guests. It just seems a bit silly to me. If I do choose to do this, I'll be asking the DJ to refrain from using the 'for the first time' statement when he announces us. Either way though...it must be a thrilling moment. So go with your gut and make it yours.
