Getting married August 22nd!!! Geez time is flying by. I've also finished booking all the vendors except the limos. My FH wants them but I think its a waste of money! The next big thing is my invites, FH wants to send them early (like by May 1). Its a big DIY project, so i'm probably going to take the entire month to make them all. Then its the fan programs and place cards. If I'm feeling adventurous, I might tackle a DIY cardbox. What DIY projects are you doing? I've gotten all of my DIY ideas from LIweddings!!

Re: August Brides
I'm getting married August 4th. I still have to book hair, makeup, limos and flowers (and probably other stuff that I'm forgetting). I feel like I'm soooo behind.
I started designing invitations (My Custom Wedding Shoppe) and should have a sample sent to me soon. I'm thinking about favors, but can't find anything that I really like. I don't really want something edible, I'd rather something that people can take home with them - and hopefully be useful.
I would like to try to do some DIY projects this summer, but I don't know what. I'm not at all artistic, so I will probably end up having the girl who does my invitations do my menus and programs. I might DIY for table numbers, but I haven't come up with any ideas I really like for that. I told my mom and MOH that I want us to try and make a card-box.
My dress came in, so I'm going to go see it and try on again next weekend. I'm gonna try on veils and jewelry while I am there to get ideas (and hopefully buy somewhere else cheaper).
I love the idea of an August thread so I can see what you girls are up to because I feel like I'm probably forgetting a lot. Since I'm at the beginning of the month, there's only about 4 months left!

I'm a September crasher but having been in 4 weddings as a bridesmaid, i can tell you it's never too early to start anything really, as long as you have a clean, safe place to store things.
I booked all my vendors and ordered invitations (only because they were having a sale that ended this month and i got 25 free!).
Here's what i've finished or been working on lately: Ordered birdcage card holder Ordered bridesmaid gifts Ordered FH gifts Planning honeymoon (i'm late on this but we're not going til December) Planning Groomsman gifts (with FH) Planning candy buffet Planning Menus, programs, etc. Looking at flower girl dresses and ring bearer outfits Looking at DOJ and accessories, shoes, lingerie Looking at cake toppers Looking at bridal shower outfits
i have yet to find a COMPLETELY FULL LIST of items that need to be bought/done but somehow i think i'm getting things done at a good pace lol
**Edited to include missing items i thought of after lol

Since we are all in the same time frame lets stick together and motivate eachother to get things done because I feel like I am TOTALLY going to forget so many things!
Right now I am working on my bridal party gifts. I am buying a little something every week to keep the cost down.
Im also working on DIY table numbers. I have to finish my bubbles and picture frames for Signiture drink/ flip flop basket/ bathroom basket.
The next BIG project I have for the month of April is my DIY card box.
I also have to get uplighting (through my hall) and I really want to schedule a budior (sp?) photoshoot. Finalize honeymoon plans (half of it is booked) AHHH! haha
and this is only my short list
Oh Snap! I also have to get our wedding bands! Hoe could i forget that lolol

I'm the end of July and I just started my list for the photographer, list for the DJ, and I've ordered the invitations. I have all major vendors booked, we are now discussing the rehearsal dinner, and I am finalizing hair and make up appointments. and I started ordering BM gifts. Next on the list I guess is table numbers and seating place cards we will start some time in April because I want to DIY and have them match.

I'm the 18th and feel SO far behind!! I lost one vacation due to Sandy and am currently most of the way through Spring Break and didn't get much done because we have FH's kids with us this week AND I have work stuff to do, even though I'm 'off'.
Having stressful dreams every night, so tired I can't keep up! I hope this thread will help get me back on track!

I'm signing with a venue Tuesday for Aug.2. I think I win the 'most behind' ribbon.
I did engagement photos today and will probably go with that photographer. Next, is a church. Then, the band. I am Catholic and I am worried about getting the pre Cana done in time. Hopefully, it will work out.
I am also worried about what I should be doing and when! I am going to do save the dates when I get the photos back. Although my mother has told me, 'But there's no time to save a date!' lol.
Liweddings has been a great source of information and inspiration. Thank you, brides!

I don't want to worry you (and I'm also not sure when you got engaged) but the Catholic Church told us we needed to wait 6 months from engagement to marriage before they would perform the ceremony. Although, I'm sure they make exceptions.
We just did pre-Cana in one weekend at the Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston. It was great and easy to sign up for. You can do it online. Register Here!

We JUST received our Save the Dates; hopefully they'll go out this week. I know we're late, too, but I just wanted you to know you're not the only one.

I'm also a August bride. I'm half way done with diy cry packs and favors. We are doing the centerpieces ourselves so I just bought the vases today but still have to purchase the gems and candles. All our big vendors are booked we just are waiting to do the limo and shuttle. We still have to do the invitations which we are doing next week. I have a make-up trial this Saturday. I still need to find someone for my hair. Still need godmother flowing:
Write vows Dj list Photography list Menus Table numbers order doj for me and bridesmaids (already know which etsy vendor I'm using) Groomsmen gifts Parent gifts Bridal shoes Purchase unity sand kit Purchase toasting flutes and car server ad cake topper
I still have so much!

Re: August Brides
Thanks for all the advice and encouragement!! My home parish said no problem on the 4 months, and to come on it for the first consultation. We'll see. Thankfully in NY there are loads of ways to do the pre Cana.
And thank you very much for the link to the preCana info!
I uploaded my save the dates to my album if anyone wants to see. We went with the LOVE one. I express ordered and they'll be delivered Friday.
Now I am at a conference in Texas until Sunday, so wedding is on hold till next week.
Good luck, fellow August brides!

Ahhhh - I am getting married 4 months from today!
I'm going to a wedding at a different room in my venue on Saturday (Somerly room) so I'm going to look for inspiration this weekend. In the next few weeks I plan on booking my honeymoon and limos. Then its hair/makeup trials and flowers.
