How are all of the August brides doing this week?

FH and I got wedding bands this weekend and chose tuxes for the guys. My mom printed the addresses on all of our response envelopes as well. What checks have you all accomplished this week?

It's getting so close!!

Good going, FutureMrsM!! Good luck to you.

I am panicking a little. Still trying to get save the dates out and get preCana organized. I stopped into Macy's at my conference last week and picked up half the bridesmaids' gifts.

I got quotes on hotel blocks.

I am trying on dresses Sunday at Kleinfeld's. Next week is band and invitations. It doesn't seem like enough time!!

(I am also buying a house - a gutted house - and moving in the next few weeks?) So, if anyone has any extra valium, please share.

Re: August Brides

We booked our honeymoon this week, so that is an amazing check. I CANNOT wait for a vacation.

Also, this weekend I tried on my dress and decided on my DOJ and shoes (brought some options with me and picked which ones to keep). I tried on a few veils while I was there too, but of course the one I liked best was $400. I'm gonna look at Tri-County to try for something cheaper.

I should be getting my invitation sample in the mail any day now, so I can finalize that soon. And I've been working on limos.

My coop is totally gutted right now too (thanks Sandy). They are still working on construction, so I'm waiting for the green light to go in to put in a kitchen/bathroom and everything else we'll need. I'm glad I'm not the only one on overload, we can get through this together. I keep reminding myself that at the end of all this stress I'll have a newly renovated home and an amazing wedding. If you guys find any great deals on (for kitchen/bathroom fixtures, tiles, furniture, whatever), please let me know. Its gonna be tough to find time to shop around.

I do this too!! When I know I have wedding stuff to do but no motivation to do it, I just buy wedding stuff online and it makes me feel like I accomplished something and have a 'check!'

Just signed my limo contract, so that's one more thing off my list. :D

How far in advance do you think I need to book the restaurant for my rehearsal dinner? We aren't on speaking terms with FMIL, so I have NO idea what is going on with that. Initially she was going to pay for it, but now I'm not even sure if she'll show up...

Yay for a check!

Yeah We arent oon the best of terms with my FMIL and she has not mentioned that she will foot the bill so I think sometime next week we are gunna go to the resturant where we got engaged and see if they can have our rehersal dinner there.

I'd say book it within the next month.

When are you going for tuxes?
lpatticake Posted:

August Brides

For tuxes, I think probably around the end of this month or early May. He went to Jos A Banks for a wedding he was in last year, and was very happy with it there, so we will probably check there first. I want to take care of flowers, wedding bands (I want a custom ring), and hair and makeup first, so tuxes are after those.

I'm also going crazy now trying to find a dress for my e-pics in a few weeks, my shower, and a friends wedding. I don't like how anything looks on me. Where did you get your shower dress?

How did it go, dm?

I saw the priest today and we are rolling now. I am trying to avoid creating a logistical nightmare. Does anyone know the area? Will you take a look at my dilemmas below?

The reception is at Sans Souci in Sea Cliff. I am going to block rooms at the Roslyn Claremont and the Best Western Mill River Manor in Rockville Center.

I live in Rockaway and I was talking to the priest at St. Camillus. For the ceremony, he suggested I might want to look into St. Mary's in Roslyn, St. Patrick's in Glen Cove or the chapel at St. John's University (I work there).

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions? My sister said traffic is bad Thurs and Fri in the summer. I am sort of leaning towards St. John's. Or even St. Agnes or Sacred Heart in Island Park. I am going to be living in Island Park - knocking wood - by the wedding. I am thinking the Rockville Center hotel is better for the after party, and cheaper for the younger actual after partiers. It's also closer to where I'll be living for the other events around the wedding for the bridal party and travelling family. The Claremont suggested a pub down the road! I talked to Glen Cove mansion but they want me to guarantee the block. No biggie I guess, but on principle I just don't want to. Any ideas?

Re: August Brides

We finished taking care of our room block this week, FH's wedding ring came in today and I just got us outfits for our epics tomorrow. I also ordered flip flops for a basket at the reception. Getting so much done!!

We got our tuxes from DiRe's formal wear in Franklin Square. They were wonderful there! And pretty inexpensive compared to other places that we checked. They threw in FH's tux for free also.

Any Checks this weekend for my August/ Summer Brides?!!

I got Jr. Bridesmaids dresses and booked my rehersal dinner. My dad said he would pay for it since Fh's family isnt doing anything.

Alright ladies...what did we get done this week?

We finished gluing together all of our pocketfolds and inserts for invitations. My mom printed all of the addresses on the outside envelopes and put the postage on. So, next weekend is stuffing and sealing!

Working on rehearsal dinner logistics with FMIL. She originally offered to have it at her house and now wants to have it out. We'll see what happens!

What did everyone else do? It's getting close so I'm sure there's a lot of checks!!
