I don't really think there is an 'average' amount, as everyone on this site has different budgets!

It really depends on your budget, the tamount and type of flowers that you use and whether you have high or low centerpieces.

I had low centerpieces - 18 red roses I think they were $75 each.

Thanks! I am just trying to figure out what is an average budget because I am really not sure how much $ I should be contributing towards flowers. Of course, everyone is different, but at least I can get some sort of an idea. Thanks again

Some of the high centerpieces I saw were beautiful. There was one that I really liked that was $125 -I had 20 tables at my reception, so that was too much $$$$ for me.

my low CPs were $50 each including votives and petals. shop around and know what you want. my total flower budget was about $1500 and i had 20+ tables, and 7 BMs!

Here is a thought: I went to a wedding where they had a combination of high and low centerpieces. The high CP were only on the outer tables that lined the wall of the room - that way the view to the dance floor was not blocked. All of the other tables had low centerpieces. Whether or not it will work will depend on the shape of your room.

Mine is about the same with everything but I have a few more BM and less tables.

Re: average amount of money spent on flowers

The best thing to do is be honest with your florist. Tell them you have XX dollars to spend, this is your color scheme, whether you'd like high or low CPs, and then let them tell you what they can do with that. Don't walk in and say 'I want pink flowers and high CPs' because they'll immediately show you expensive stuff. And don't walk in without a budget in mind, or you'll probably end up paying more than you would have otherwise. You want to tell them what you can afford, you don't want them to tell you what wedding flowers 'should' cost. Ask what flowers are in season and are less expensive around the time of your wedding. Roses are always fairly cheap, unless it's around Valentine's Day.

Good luck!

I don't know if this helps but I found that the high centerpieces started at $100-$125 each. Low ones from $50-$100 depending on # of flowers and type of flower.

Well its hard for someone to give you an average bc obviously some people bought more flowers than others and had different types of centerpieces.

You should list what you are interested in getting

such as what flowers are you getting for the ceremony...Bok's for you and bridesmaids...what flowers do you want for the reception and any other flowers you might want...Depending on what you want it will be easier for someone to tell you a price range...It wont be exact, it will also matter alot where you get it from

Re: average amount of money spent on flowers

I went with a rather high end florist, and will be having $100 low centerpieces.... They will have cream roses, lady's mantle (a spring green colored filler), and other white flowers. They'll be in antique metal buckets...

Bouquet will be about $125- all white peonies...

Total flower cost PRIMARILY depends upon the size of the bridal party, and the # of tables.

If you go with a volume discounter, like burtons, you'll definitely get a lower price. If you go with a smaller high end florist, you'll pay more, but from my experience, it will likely be more customized to your wishes. (Due to high volume/discount, these types of florists are a bit more restricted in what they can use, since they must buy in bulk to provide low prices...). However, don't ignore the smaller outfits, since the cost can be competitive to volume discounters if you are willing to compromise in certain areas and select less expensive options. We selected less ornate church decorations, and it almost halved the estimate with our florist. Now we have the specific flowers the discount florist couldn't provide, AND a budget we can live with.....

Mine were low, in a square vase, with votives and petals, and since the tables were oblong, I had two on each table. Each CP was $54 - that was with peonies - the other flowers were mostly roses I think. You can sort of see in my avatar pic.
